Align your credentials to retail operations standards
Dollar General's Operations roles prioritize supply chain, inventory management, and distribution experience. Frame your resume around measurable outcomes in these areas so hiring managers immediately connect your background to their store and logistics network.
Target distribution center and regional roles
Dollar General's Operations hiring often centers on district, regional, and distribution center positions rather than corporate. Search specifically for those titles, since they represent where the company consistently brings in specialized talent and where sponsorship decisions are most frequently made.
Secure OPT approval before your interviews progress
If you're on F-1 status, have your OPT EAD in hand before you reach the offer stage. Dollar General's retail operations calendar runs on tight timelines, and delays in your work authorization can cause a hire to fall through before H-1B sponsorship even gets discussed.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-verified Operations openings
Not every Operations posting at Dollar General will flag visa sponsorship availability. Search Migrate Mate to surface roles where the company has an active sponsorship track record, so you're applying where your candidacy is actually viable rather than hoping the recruiter raises it.
Understand how PERM fits a long-term Operations career path
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, Dollar General must run a PERM labor certification through DOL before filing your immigrant petition. Operations roles at the manager level or above are the most common entry point for this pathway, so position yourself accordingly during negotiation.
Negotiate H-1B filing before your grace period ends
If you're in a 60-day grace period after a previous employer's layoff, get Dollar General's HR team to confirm H-1B petition intent in writing before you accept an offer. USCIS requires filing within a defined window, and retail HR teams may not always move at the pace your status requires.

Find Operations at Dollar General JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Dollar General sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, Dollar General does sponsor H-1B visas for Operations positions. Sponsorship is most common for specialized roles in supply chain, distribution management, and regional operations where the company needs skills that meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires. Not every Operations posting will include sponsorship, so confirm directly with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Dollar General?
You can apply through Dollar General's careers site or browse sponsorship-verified Operations openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where Dollar General has a demonstrated sponsorship history. Tailor your application to highlight logistics, inventory, or distribution experience relevant to the specific role level you're targeting, whether that's district, regional, or distribution center.
Which visa types does Dollar General commonly use for Operations positions?
Dollar General sponsors H-1B visas for Operations professionals in specialty occupation roles and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in relevant programs. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Operations roles. For longer-term pathways, the company has also sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card filings through the PERM process for certain positions.
What qualifications does Dollar General expect for sponsored Operations roles?
Sponsored Operations roles at Dollar General typically require a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or a related field. Hands-on experience with inventory systems, distribution operations, or retail store management strengthens your candidacy significantly. For H-1B purposes, your degree must align directly with the job duties to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization?
If you're transitioning from OPT to H-1B sponsorship at Dollar General, you need the petition filed by April 1 to be counted in the annual cap lottery for an October 1 start. Build your job search timeline backward from that deadline. If you miss the lottery window, a cap-exempt role or a TN visa may bridge the gap while you wait for the next cycle.
