Align Your Credentials With U.S. Licensing Standards
Many Healthcare roles at Duke require state licensure or certification recognized in North Carolina. Verify your foreign credentials through a NACES-approved evaluation service before applying, so your qualifications map cleanly to the role's requirements.
Target Roles That Justify Specialty Occupation Status
H-1B sponsorship at Duke requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Clinical research coordinators, health informatics specialists, and public health analysts are stronger fits than generalist support roles that accept any bachelor's field.
Understand Duke's PERM Timeline for Healthcare Roles
PERM-based Green Card sponsorship requires DOL recruitment documentation showing no qualified U.S. workers were available. In competitive Healthcare labor markets, this process can take a year or more, so confirm the employer's willingness early.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Sponsored Healthcare Openings
Duke posts Healthcare roles across multiple channels, and not all listings signal sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Duke University Healthcare positions where visa sponsorship is confirmed, saving time you'd otherwise spend in preliminary screening calls.

Does Duke University sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcare roles?
Yes, Duke University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Healthcare positions. Roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, are eligible. Clinical research, health informatics, and public health roles commonly meet this threshold. Duke's Office of International Services coordinates the petition process with the hiring department.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Duke University?
Applications go through Duke's official careers portal at careers.duke.edu. Search by department or job category to find Healthcare listings. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse Duke University Healthcare roles that have been identified as visa sponsorship-eligible, which narrows your search before you invest time in the full application process.
Which visa types does Duke University use for Healthcare positions?
Duke sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation Healthcare roles and E-3 visas for Australian citizens in equivalent positions. For permanent residence, Duke supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification, which is common for clinical research and health sciences roles where the position requires an advanced or specialized degree.
What qualifications does Duke University expect for sponsored Healthcare roles?
Expectations vary by role, but sponsored positions typically require a relevant bachelor's degree at minimum, with many clinical research and health informatics roles preferring a master's or clinical credential. North Carolina licensure is required for regulated clinical titles. Experience within an academic medical center or large health system strengthens your application, as Duke operates at significant scale across inpatient, outpatient, and research settings.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Healthcare role at Duke?
For H-1B petitions filed during the standard April cap season, your start date would be October 1 at the earliest, meaning the process from job offer to authorized work can span six months or more. E-3 petitions for Australian citizens move faster, often within a few weeks of consular scheduling. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship is a separate, longer process that typically runs one to two years from initiation.
