Align your degree to logistics roles
FedEx Freight's E-3 filings concentrate in operations and supply chain functions. Map your Australian degree field directly to the SOC code listed in the job posting before applying, since the specialty occupation requirement ties your specific degree to the role, not just any bachelor's degree.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating
Before accepting an offer, look up the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and location using the OFLC Wage Search. FedEx Freight's LCA must certify your offered salary meets that threshold, so knowing the floor strengthens your negotiation position and flags any compliance gaps early.
Confirm HR's E-3 familiarity during interviews
Ask FedEx Freight's recruiter whether their immigration team has handled E-3 filings before. Because the E-3 bypasses USCIS petition approval and goes directly to the consulate, HR teams experienced only with H-1B may need to adjust their standard sponsorship workflow.
Use Migrate Mate to prepare your filing documents
Once FedEx Freight issues your offer letter and certified LCA, use Migrate Mate to prepare and review your E-3 application package. A filing error at the consular stage can delay your start date by weeks, and Migrate Mate's flat-fee service is built specifically for E-3 applications.
Request the LCA before your visa appointment
You need the certified LCA in hand before scheduling your consular interview. Follow up with FedEx Freight's HR or legal team to confirm DOL certification has been received, since consulates won't approve an E-3 application without it and you can't substitute a pending filing.
Research O*NET profiles for your target role
If FedEx Freight questions whether your role qualifies as a specialty occupation, use O*NET to pull the official occupation profile showing the typical education requirements. Roles in supply chain analysis and IT systems management consistently show a bachelor's degree requirement, strengthening your case at the consulate.
FedEx Freight E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does FedEx Freight sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, FedEx Freight sponsors E-3 visas for qualifying Australian nationals. The company has an established immigration infrastructure through its broader sponsorship programs, and E-3 sponsorship is available for roles that meet the specialty occupation definition. Sponsorship is typically offered to candidates who have already cleared the standard hiring process.
Which roles at FedEx Freight are most likely to receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at FedEx Freight is most common in operations management, supply chain analytics, and technology positions where a specific bachelor's degree is a genuine requirement of the role. Corporate and professional services functions tied to logistics strategy or systems analysis also tend to qualify. Hourly or trade-classified roles generally do not meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I start the E-3 application process with FedEx Freight?
After receiving a written offer, FedEx Freight's HR or external immigration counsel files the Labor Condition Application with DOL for certification. Once certified, you take that LCA along with your other documents to your Australian consular interview. USCIS is not involved in the E-3 process, which makes the timeline significantly shorter than an H-1B sponsorship.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at FedEx Freight?
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days of submission. Consular appointment wait times in Australia vary by location and season but often fall within two to four weeks for business visa categories. Most candidates can complete the full process from signed offer to visa in hand within four to six weeks, assuming no administrative processing delays.
How do I make my E-3 application stand out at FedEx Freight?
Demonstrate the direct connection between your Australian degree field and the specific role you're being hired for, since specialty occupation is the most common point of scrutiny at the consulate. Migrate Mate can help you organize your application package and review your documents before your interview appointment. Arriving with a complete, well-structured file reduces the risk of a 221(g) administrative hold.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at FedEx Freight?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
