Job Roles at CDM Smith Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in CDM Smith Visa Sponsorship USA
Target technical and engineering roles first
CDM Smith's sponsorship activity is concentrated in engineering, environmental science, and project management. Focus your search on roles where a specific technical degree is required, these are the positions most likely to qualify as specialty occupations and receive sponsorship support.
Approach the H-1B lottery early
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship at CDM Smith, begin conversations well before the April lottery registration window. CDM Smith's consulting structure means project staffing needs are planned months ahead, being in the pipeline early improves your chances significantly.
Highlight project-specific technical expertise
CDM Smith wins contracts in water, transportation, and environmental infrastructure. Candidates who can speak directly to domain experience in these sectors are more attractive hires, and more defensible sponsorship cases when the company files your petition.
Ask about Green Card sponsorship timelines during offer negotiation
CDM Smith has a track record of supporting permanent residency for long-term employees. Ask directly during offer discussions whether the role includes Green Card sponsorship eligibility and what the typical timeline looks like for your job category.
Use verified sponsorship data to find the right openings
Not every CDM Smith role will come with sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus on the specific CDM Smith positions where international candidates have historically been sponsored.

Does CDM Smith sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, CDM Smith sponsors H-1B visas and has done so consistently across its engineering and consulting divisions. The company is an active H-1B sponsor, with sponsorship concentrated in technical roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher. If you're applying for an engineering, environmental science, or project management role, it's worth raising H-1B sponsorship directly with the recruiter early in the process.
Which visa types does CDM Smith sponsor?
CDM Smith sponsors H-1B visas, E-3 visas for Australian citizens, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles, and permanent residency through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories. The right visa pathway depends on your nationality, role, and career stage. Australian engineers in particular should ask about E-3 eligibility, which offers a faster and less competitive route than H-1B.
Which roles or departments at CDM Smith are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at CDM Smith is most common in roles requiring specialized technical credentials, civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering, water resources, transportation planning, and construction management. These positions typically require a degree in a specific field, which is the core requirement for H-1B and E-3 specialty occupation petitions. General administrative or business development roles are less likely to be sponsored.
How do I find visa-sponsored job openings at CDM Smith?
CDM Smith posts openings across multiple channels, but not all listings specify whether sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate is the most efficient way to find CDM Smith roles with verified sponsorship history, you can filter specifically for positions where the company has sponsored international candidates before, which saves time and avoids applying to roles where sponsorship is unlikely.
How do I navigate the H-1B sponsorship timeline when applying to CDM Smith?
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 each year for an October 1 start date, meaning CDM Smith would need to commit to sponsoring you months before you begin work. Start conversations with recruiters in January or February at the latest. If you're currently on OPT or another valid status, make sure CDM Smith's HR team understands your authorization end date so they can plan the filing accordingly.
