Target product and engineering teams first
Hunter Douglas's window coverings and architectural products lines drive consistent hiring in mechanical engineering, product development, and industrial design. These specialties align tightly with E-3 specialty occupation requirements, making them your strongest entry points.
Verify your degree matches the role
Hunter Douglas's E-3 filings require your degree field to directly relate to the job. A mechanical engineering role needs an engineering degree, not just any bachelor's. Check the O*NET occupation profile for the specific SOC code to confirm the typical education requirement before applying.
Ask about LCA status before accepting an offer
The Labor Condition Application must be certified by DOL before your visa appointment. At Hunter Douglas, ask HR whether the LCA is already filed or still in progress so you can plan your consulate appointment timeline accurately.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wage early
Hunter Douglas must pay the prevailing wage for your role and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you can cross-check the offered salary and flag any gap before the LCA is submitted.
Use Migrate Mate to track Hunter Douglas's filing history
Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer and occupation code, so you can see which roles Hunter Douglas has filed E-3 sponsorship for and how recently, before you invest time in a full application.
Clarify renewal responsibility before your start date
E-3 visas are valid for two years and require renewal tied to continued employment. Confirm with Hunter Douglas's HR team whether they handle renewal filings directly or expect you to coordinate the consulate appointment independently.
Hunter Douglas E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hunter Douglas sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Hunter Douglas sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most common in engineering, product development, and operations functions that align with the company's consumer goods manufacturing business. Each sponsorship requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment.
Which departments at Hunter Douglas typically hire E-3 candidates?
Engineering, industrial design, and operations are the teams most likely to hire on an E-3 at Hunter Douglas, given the company's focus on product innovation and manufacturing. Corporate functions like finance and supply chain can also qualify if the role requires a degree in a directly related field, which USCIS assesses case by case.
How do I apply for a role at Hunter Douglas with E-3 sponsorship?
Apply directly through Hunter Douglas's careers page and flag your E-3 eligibility in your application or initial recruiter conversation. Once you receive an offer, your employer files the LCA with DOL, and you complete the DS-160 and attend a consulate interview in Australia. Migrate Mate can handle the filing paperwork on your behalf if you want dedicated support through the process.
How long does the E-3 process take at Hunter Douglas?
DOL typically certifies the LCA within seven business days. After that, consulate appointment wait times in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determine your overall timeline, which can range from a few weeks to a couple of months depending on current availability. Building at least four to six weeks of runway between your offer and your intended start date gives both parties a workable buffer.
What should I prepare before approaching Hunter Douglas about E-3 sponsorship?
Have your degree credentials assessed against the specific role's specialty occupation requirements using O*NET before your first conversation with HR. Confirm your salary expectations align with DOL prevailing wage levels for your job title and location using the OFLC Wage Search. Coming into the conversation with this groundwork done shows Hunter Douglas you understand the process and reduces friction on their end.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Hunter Douglas?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
