Align your credentials to Jacobs' project portfolio
Jacobs hires across infrastructure, environmental, and advanced facilities sectors. Map your engineering degree and experience to their active project types before applying. Specialty occupation requires your degree field to directly match the role, not just overlap with it.
Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Not every construction or project management title clears the specialty occupation bar. Check O*NET for your job zone classification and confirm the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in a specific discipline, which Jacobs will need to certify in its Labor Condition Application.
Ask about the LCA before accepting an offer
Jacobs must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before you can apply for your E-3 visa. Confirm during the offer stage whether their HR team has done this before and whether they'll initiate it promptly, since delays here push back your consular appointment.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your job title and Jacobs' project site before your offer conversation, so you can negotiate from an informed position.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Jacobs' sponsorship history
Before you spend time in a lengthy interview process, confirm that Jacobs has a genuine E-3 sponsorship track record. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application filings by employer, so you can see which roles and locations Jacobs has sponsored before starting applications.
Prepare your DS-160 and consular documents in parallel
Once Jacobs confirms the LCA is certified, your E-3 application moves to the consulate. Complete your DS-160, gather your degree transcripts and employment letter, and book your appointment at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth early, since appointment slots fill weeks in advance.
Jacobs E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jacobs Engineering Group sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Jacobs Engineering Group sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals. The company operates across construction, infrastructure, and engineering sectors and has an established visa sponsorship program that includes E-3 alongside H-1B visa and employment-based Green Card pathways. Roles in engineering and technical project management are the most common E-3 sponsorship categories at Jacobs.
Which roles at Jacobs Engineering Group are typically eligible for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Jacobs is most common for roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning positions that require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Engineering disciplines including civil, structural, environmental, and mechanical are well represented. Project management and technical advisory roles that carry a formal degree requirement also qualify, depending on how the position is classified.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Jacobs Engineering Group?
Once you have a written job offer from Jacobs, their HR or immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After the LCA is certified, you complete the DS-160 online and schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia. Jacobs typically coordinates the LCA filing, but you own the consular appointment and document preparation steps.
How long does the E-3 process take at Jacobs Engineering Group?
The LCA certification through DOL generally takes around seven business days. Consular appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then determines your overall timeline, with wait times ranging from a few weeks to several weeks depending on the time of year. Most candidates complete the full process within four to eight weeks of receiving their job offer.
How do I find current E-3 job openings at Jacobs Engineering Group?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at employers with confirmed E-3 sponsorship history, including Jacobs Engineering Group, so you can filter directly for positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than an uncertain request. You can also apply through Jacobs' careers page directly, but confirming E-3 sponsorship availability before investing time in the process is a practical first step.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Jacobs Engineering Group?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
