Align your degree to specialty occupation standards
Mass General Brigham's immigration team will confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Pull the O*NET profile for your target job title and verify it lists a bachelor's degree in a specific field as the standard entry requirement before applying.
Target departments with recurring international hiring
Clinical research, nursing informatics, radiology, and laboratory science teams at Mass General Brigham have histories of sponsoring international candidates. Prioritize roles posted under these departments rather than general administrative openings less likely to trigger visa sponsorship.
Request LCA filing before your start date
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before your consular appointment. Confirm with Mass General Brigham's HR team that LCA filing is initiated immediately after offer acceptance to avoid delays in your visa timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to verify E-3 filing history
Before negotiating your offer, use Migrate Mate to check Mass General Brigham's E-3 sponsorship activity by role and department. This tells you which teams have actually sponsored E-3 visas, so you're targeting positions where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
Consular officers at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth will assess whether your role and degree align. Gather your official transcripts, a detailed job description, and any credential evaluations before your interview, since Mass General Brigham's HR team will need these documents regardless.
Clarify prevailing wage compliance in your offer letter
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Cross-check your offer against the OFLC Wage Search tool using your job's Standard Occupational Classification code to confirm compliance before signing anything.
Mass General Brigham E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mass General Brigham sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Mass General Brigham sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most common in clinical, research, and technical departments where the position requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher. Not every role qualifies, so confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during the interview process.
Which roles and departments typically receive E-3 sponsorship at Mass General Brigham?
E-3 sponsorship at Mass General Brigham tends to concentrate in clinical research coordination, laboratory sciences, nursing informatics, radiology, and health data analytics. These roles consistently require a degree in a specific field, which is the core requirement for specialty occupation classification under the E-3 program. General administrative or support roles are less likely to qualify.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process once I have an offer from Mass General Brigham?
After accepting an offer, Mass General Brigham's HR and legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once certified, you take that LCA along with your job offer letter, DS-160, and supporting credentials to your consular interview in Australia. USCIS is not involved in E-3 applications filed through a U.S. consulate abroad. Use Migrate Mate to prepare and organize your filing documents.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Mass General Brigham?
The LCA certification through DOL typically takes around seven business days. After that, your consular appointment wait time depends on the U.S. consulate you use in Australia. Sydney and Melbourne are the most common options, with appointment availability varying by season. Budget four to eight weeks from offer acceptance to having your visa in hand under normal conditions.
What practical steps should I take before applying for E-3 roles at Mass General Brigham?
Confirm your degree aligns with the specific field required for your target role, not just general eligibility. Check the O*NET profile for your occupation to verify it meets specialty occupation standards. Research which Mass General Brigham departments have actively sponsored international candidates, and have your transcripts, credential evaluations, and degree equivalency assessments ready before your first interview.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Mass General Brigham?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
