Align your degree to the role
Ogletree Deakins files E-3 petitions for specialty occupation roles, so your degree must directly relate to the position, not just to the legal industry broadly. Pull the exact job title from O*NET to confirm the required field of study before applying.
Target practice groups that hire internationally
Ogletree Deakins operates across more than 50 U.S. offices with practice groups in labor and employment, employee benefits, and business immigration. Focus your outreach on offices with active international hiring patterns rather than applying to every location at once.
Request LCA filing before your start date
The Labor Condition Application must be certified by DOL before your consular appointment. Ask the firm's immigration team for a clear LCA timeline during the offer stage so your interview scheduling doesn't outpace the filing process.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wage data
Ogletree Deakins must pay the prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Run your expected offer through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating so you enter salary discussions knowing the DOL floor for your specific role and city.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Ogletree's filing history
Before your interview, use Migrate Mate to review Ogletree Deakins' E-3 and H-1B Labor Condition Application history by practice area. This tells you which roles and offices have active sponsorship patterns, helping you target your application to the right team.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at the consulate
E-3 applicants must demonstrate nonimmigrant intent at the consular interview. Bring documentation showing your ties to Australia, such as property ownership, family commitments, or a letter from Ogletree confirming the temporary nature of the position.
Morgan Stanley E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak Stewart sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak Stewart sponsors E-3 visas for Australian professionals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Given the firm's own deep expertise in business immigration law, its HR and legal teams are well-equipped to manage the LCA filing and consular documentation process for eligible candidates.
Which roles at Ogletree Deakins typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Ogletree Deakins is most commonly associated with roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Legal professionals, including associates and paralegals, as well as business services roles in HR, finance, and operations, are the most likely candidates for E-3 sponsorship across the firm's U.S. offices.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak Stewart?
Once Ogletree Deakins extends a job offer, the firm's immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160 form, pay the MRV fee, and attend a consular interview in Australia. USCIS is not involved in most E-3 consular cases, which keeps the process employer-side light compared to the H-1B visa.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak Stewart?
The LCA typically certifies within seven business days of submission to DOL. After that, your consular appointment wait time depends on the U.S. embassy or consulate you use in Australia. Total time from signed offer to visa stamp is often four to six weeks for straightforward cases, though consulate backlogs can extend this.
How do I find open E-3 roles at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak Stewart?
Search Ogletree Deakins' careers page filtered by U.S. locations, focusing on practice groups with international hiring patterns. Migrate Mate also surfaces Ogletree Deakins' LCA filing history by role and office, so you can identify which positions have active sponsorship activity before you apply, saving time on outreach to offices that don't sponsor.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak Stewart?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
