Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
SSR Management's E-3 filings in mining and natural resources typically support roles requiring a directly related bachelor's degree. Map your Australian mining engineering, geology, or environmental science qualifications to the specific role before applying, since USCIS evaluates degree-to-job fit closely.
Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Not every mining or resources position at SSR Management will clear the specialty occupation threshold. Check the O*NET occupation profile for your target role to confirm it requires a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge before progressing to the offer stage.
Research prevailing wage before salary discussions
Before negotiating your offer at SSR Management, run the OFLC Wage Search for your job title and work location. The E-3 requires your salary to meet the DOL prevailing wage, so knowing the floor in advance prevents offer letters that can't support a certified Labor Condition Application.
Confirm LCA certification is underway before resigning
SSR Management must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before you can apply at the U.S. consulate. Don't give notice to your current employer until you've received a copy of the certified LCA, since DOL certification typically takes around seven business days but can extend.
Use Migrate Mate to identify SSR Management's filing history
Before reaching out to SSR Management's recruiting team, use Migrate Mate to review the company's E-3 and H-1B visa LCA filing history by occupation code. This tells you which roles they've sponsored before and strengthens your targeting so you apply for positions with a real sponsorship precedent.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter for Australian qualifications
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted for E-3 purposes, but U.S. consular officers occasionally ask for credential evaluations. Have a foreign credential evaluation ready from a recognized evaluator before your interview so SSR Management's sponsorship isn't delayed by documentation gaps at the consulate.
SSR Mining E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does SSR Management sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, SSR Management sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in the mining and natural resources sector. The company has filed E-3 Labor Condition Applications through the DOL, primarily for roles requiring specialized technical, engineering, or environmental credentials. Australian candidates with relevant qualifications should confirm the specific role qualifies as a specialty occupation before applying.
Which roles at SSR Management typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
SSR Management's E-3 sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical and professional roles connected to resource extraction and site management, including mining engineering, geology, environmental compliance, and project management positions. General operational or administrative roles are less likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS requires for E-3 approval.
How do I start the E-3 application process at SSR Management?
After receiving a written job offer, SSR Management's HR or immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL. Once the LCA is certified, you take it to your U.S. consulate in Australia along with your DS-160, passport, and supporting documents. USCIS is not involved in consular E-3 applications, which simplifies the employer's filing burden significantly.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at SSR Management?
DOL LCA certification typically takes around seven business days. After that, consulate appointment wait times in Australia vary by location and season but often run two to six weeks. Total time from offer to visa stamp is generally four to eight weeks for straightforward cases, though administrative processing can extend this timeline.
How do I find open E-3 roles at SSR Management?
Migrate Mate lists open positions at companies with verified E-3 LCA filing history, including SSR Management, so you can filter specifically for roles the company has sponsored before. Cross-reference the DOL's OFLC disclosure data to see which job titles have appeared in past LCA filings, then target your application to those functions within the mining and natural resources team.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Ssr Management?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
