Align your portfolio with infrastructure software
Freese and Nichols builds software for civil engineering and public-sector clients. Projects involving GIS platforms, asset management systems, or CAD integrations will resonate far more than general enterprise app development experience.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before applying
Consulting firms that hold federal and state government contracts are required to use E-Verify. Confirm enrollment through the E-Verify employer search tool, since F-1 OPT STEM extension eligibility depends on your employer being an active E-Verify participant.
Start OPT paperwork well before your graduation date
USCIS recommends filing your OPT application up to 90 days before your program end date. Missing that window compresses your authorized work period and reduces the runway you have to secure a senior-level offer.
Target their project delivery and digital transformation teams
Senior software roles at consulting firms like Freese and Nichols are typically embedded in delivery units, not standalone IT departments. Frame your resume around delivering software within project timelines and cross-functional engineering teams, not internal product ownership.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Senior Software Engineering roles
Sponsorship-eligible positions at consulting firms can be hard to filter from general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Senior Software Engineering openings at Freese and Nichols filtered by the visa types they sponsor.
Request an H-1B timeline conversation at the offer stage
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, ask HR directly whether the firm can support a cap-exempt filing or bridge your status through another visa category until the next cycle.

Find Senior Software Engineering at Freese and Nichols JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Freese and Nichols sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers?
Yes, Freese and Nichols has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for technical roles including Senior Software Engineering positions. Because the firm holds government contracts, it operates as an E-Verify employer, which also makes it eligible to support F-1 OPT STEM extensions. Confirm sponsorship availability for a specific role during the interview process, since not every open position is designated for sponsorship.
Which visa types are commonly used for Senior Software Engineering roles at Freese and Nichols?
H-1B is the most common long-term sponsorship path for Senior Software Engineers at consulting firms like Freese and Nichols. F-1 OPT and CPT are viable entry points for recent graduates, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status under the USMCA treaty if the role meets specialty occupation criteria. J-1 sponsorship is also available in certain cases.
What qualifications are expected for Senior Software Engineering roles at Freese and Nichols?
Freese and Nichols focuses on infrastructure and public-sector consulting, so Senior Software Engineering candidates are expected to bring substantial experience with engineering software platforms, GIS systems, or data-driven tools used in civil or environmental projects. A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field is typically required, and hands-on experience with project-based software delivery strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at Freese and Nichols?
You can browse and apply for Senior Software Engineering openings at Freese and Nichols through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters active listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Tailor your application to highlight experience with infrastructure or public-sector software and include any relevant certifications in GIS, cloud platforms, or systems integration.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Senior Software Engineering role?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year, and approved petitions have an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer in the summer or fall, work with the employer's immigration counsel to determine whether a gap period or interim status change is needed. F-1 students with OPT authorization can often begin work while an H-1B petition is pending, provided the employer files before OPT expires.
