Align your credentials to PE licensure expectations
Freese and Nichols values licensed Professional Engineers for project management roles. If you hold a foreign engineering degree, get a credential evaluation from NACES before applying so your qualifications map clearly to U.S. licensure standards.
Target infrastructure-heavy practice areas strategically
Freese and Nichols staffs Engineering Project Managers across water, transportation, and environmental divisions. Applying to the practice area that matches your technical background sharpens your fit and signals you understand the firm's project delivery model.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings efficiently
Engineering Project Manager roles at Freese and Nichols open across multiple regional offices and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track these postings so you're applying while positions are still active and sponsorship is still on the table.
Raise sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
Consulting firms in civil and environmental engineering plan project staffing around client contracts. Confirming your visa status in the first recruiter screen lets the firm assess whether your start date aligns with their project pipeline before investing in interviews.
Understand the H-1B cap timeline for consulting roles
If you need H-1B sponsorship from scratch, USCIS lottery registration opens in March for an October start. Freese and Nichols typically hires Project Managers for active projects, so time your application to arrive when your lottery selection and their project ramp-up align.
Verify TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Engineering roles at consulting firms like Freese and Nichols frequently qualify under the TN visa category for engineers. Confirm your specific job duties meet DOL's TN engineer definition before your offer stage, since TN approval happens at the border without a USCIS filing wait.

Does Freese and Nichols sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Project Managers?
Yes, Freese and Nichols has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering roles, including project management positions. Because sponsorship decisions depend on project staffing needs and timing, it's worth confirming sponsorship availability directly with a recruiter during your first conversation rather than assuming it for every open role.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering Project Manager roles at Freese and Nichols?
Engineering Project Managers at Freese and Nichols most commonly use H-1B sponsorship for long-term employment. F-1 OPT and CPT are options for recent graduates entering the firm, while Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN status given the engineering-specific nature of the work. J-1 sponsorship is less common but has been used for certain exchange roles.
What qualifications are expected for Engineering Project Manager roles at Freese and Nichols?
Freese and Nichols typically expects a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or a related engineering discipline, along with meaningful project delivery experience. Professional Engineer licensure is often preferred or required at the project manager level. Experience managing infrastructure or municipal projects in water, transportation, or environmental sectors strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I apply for Engineering Project Manager jobs at Freese and Nichols?
Applications go through the Freese and Nichols careers portal on their website. Roles are posted by office location and practice area, so filtering by your technical discipline improves relevance. You can also browse and track current Engineering Project Manager openings at Freese and Nichols through Migrate Mate, which surfaces visa-sponsoring employers and active postings in one place.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship to work at Freese and Nichols?
If you need a new H-1B and aren't transferring an existing one, USCIS lottery registration opens each March for an October 1 start date. Freese and Nichols hires against active project contracts, so applying in late fall or early winter gives the firm time to commit to sponsorship before the March registration window. If you're already H-1B approved with another employer, transfers can happen year-round with no cap constraint.
