Frame your credentials around infrastructure project delivery
Freese and Nichols operates in civil and environmental consulting, so your resume and portfolio should highlight project lifecycle ownership, client management, and multi-discipline coordination on infrastructure or public-sector work, not generic program management.
Confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility requires the position to theoretically demand a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. For Project Program Manager roles at a consulting firm, align your degree field, such as civil engineering or construction management, directly to the posted job requirements before applying.
Target postings with defined technical discipline requirements
Freese and Nichols lists Project Program Manager openings across service lines like water, transportation, and facilities. Apply to postings that specify a technical discipline rather than general management, as these are stronger candidates for H-1B specialty occupation approval.
Use Migrate Mate to track active openings by service line
Freese and Nichols posts Project Program Manager roles across multiple regional offices and practice areas. Use Migrate Mate to filter and monitor these listings, so you can prioritize postings that align with your visa type and technical background.
Clarify sponsorship scope before your first interview
Ask HR directly whether the specific role is approved for H-1B filing, not just whether the company sponsors in general. Consulting firms sometimes restrict sponsorship to certain office locations or project types due to client site work and DOL prevailing wage requirements.
Account for LCA filing timing in your offer negotiation
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can receive your H-1B petition. Build at least two to four weeks of LCA processing into your expected start date when discussing timelines with the hiring team.

Does Freese and Nichols sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, Freese and Nichols has sponsored H-1B visas for roles in their consulting practice, including project and program management functions. Sponsorship eligibility depends on the specific posting, office location, and whether the role meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Confirming sponsorship availability early in the process, ideally before the first interview, avoids surprises later.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Freese and Nichols?
Applications are submitted through the Freese and Nichols careers portal. You can also browse open Project Program Manager roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify postings that align with your authorization type before applying directly. Tailoring your application to a specific service line, such as water resources or transportation, tends to produce stronger results.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Program Manager roles at Freese and Nichols?
H-1B is the most common work visa for Project Program Manager roles at consulting firms like Freese and Nichols. F-1 OPT and CPT are viable entry points for recent graduates in engineering or construction management. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, and J-1 is occasionally used for training-track placements.
What qualifications does Freese and Nichols expect for Project Program Manager candidates?
Most Project Program Manager postings at Freese and Nichols require a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, along with demonstrated experience managing multi-phase projects in civil, environmental, or infrastructure consulting. PMP certification and experience with public-sector clients, such as municipalities or transportation agencies, are commonly listed preferences rather than hard requirements.
How do I time my H-1B application if I receive an offer from Freese and Nichols?
Standard H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, with the registration window opening in March. If your offer comes outside that window, your employer may file cap-exempt if a qualifying exemption applies, or you may bridge on OPT or another status. Discuss the timeline explicitly with HR as soon as you have an offer.
