Frame your credentials around client-facing delivery
FTI evaluates Project Program Managers on their ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder engagements. Before applying, reframe your resume around client outcomes, scope management, and cross-functional coordination rather than internal project metrics.
Target FTI's consulting segments by practice area
FTI operates across distinct practices like Economic Consulting, Forensic, and Corporate Finance. Identifying which segment aligns with your background lets you tailor your application and signals to recruiters that you understand how project management functions within that specific client context.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
FTI sponsors across several nonimmigrant and immigrant categories. Knowing exactly which category applies to you, whether H-1B, E-3, TN, or F-1 OPT, lets you address timeline constraints proactively so neither party is caught off guard after an offer is extended.
Align your OPT start date with FTI's hiring cycles
Consulting firms typically hire on structured cycles tied to project pipeline. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization window covers at least the first engagement period. A gap between your start date and OPT expiry often stalls the onboarding process before an H-1B petition can be filed.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified FTI sponsorship openings
Not every Project Program Manager listing at FTI is open to sponsored candidates. Filter confirmed sponsorship-eligible roles at FTI directly through Migrate Mate so you spend your time on openings where international candidates are actively considered.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage scrutiny in your field
For H-1B and PERM-based filings, DOL classifies Project Program Manager roles at wage levels that vary by geography and industry segment. Consulting commands different prevailing wages than corporate settings, so verify that your expected compensation aligns before entering the offer negotiation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does FTI sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, FTI sponsors H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles. The H-1B is the most common path for candidates already in the U.S. on another nonimmigrant status. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to an annual lottery, timing your offer and application relative to the April 1 filing window is critical to avoid gaps in work authorization.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at FTI?
Applications go through FTI's careers portal, where roles are listed by practice area and location. For sponsored candidates, filtering by visa eligibility before applying saves time. Migrate Mate surfaces verified Project Program Manager openings at FTI that are open to international candidates, so you can target the right listings from the start rather than discovering sponsorship constraints late in the process.
Which visa types does FTI commonly use for Project Program Manager roles?
FTI sponsors across a range of categories for this role, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your citizenship, educational background, and where you are in the immigration process.
What qualifications does FTI expect for Project Program Manager roles?
FTI typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, management, engineering, or a related field, with demonstrable experience managing complex projects in a consulting or professional services environment. PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials strengthen your profile. For specialty occupation visa categories like H-1B, the role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, which FTI's structured project management function generally satisfies.
How do I handle visa timing if FTI extends an offer outside the H-1B window?
If an offer comes outside the April H-1B filing window, FTI may bridge your status using OPT, a cap-exempt petition if you qualify, or an alternative category like E-3, TN, or H-1B1 visa depending on your nationality. USCIS allows cap-exempt filings for candidates employed at qualifying research institutions, which does not apply to most FTI engagements, so planning around the standard cap timeline is generally necessary.
