Frame Your PMP Around FTI Engagements
FTI's Program Manager roles lean heavily on client-facing project execution in consulting verticals like economic consulting or corporate finance. Tailor your resume to show cross-functional stakeholder management and engagement delivery, not just internal operations experience.
Verify Your Visa Type Early in Outreach
FTI sponsors multiple visa categories for Program Managers, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Before your first recruiter call, know exactly which category applies to you so you can answer confidently when they ask about your authorization status.
Search Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
FTI posts Program Manager openings across multiple practice areas at different times of year. Use Migrate Mate to filter FTI's active listings by visa type so you're targeting roles where your specific sponsorship need is already a known fit.
Anticipate the Specialty Occupation Question
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for consulting firms, often questioning whether Program Manager roles meet specialty occupation standards. Gather documentation showing your role requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field before your employer files.
Time Your Application Around H-1B Cap Deadlines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS registration opens in early March for an October 1 start date. Securing an offer from FTI by February gives your employer enough runway to register and prepare the petition without rushing.
Understand How FTI Structures Offer Letters for Sponsored Roles
Consulting firms often issue contingent offer letters that tie your start date to visa approval. Ask your FTI recruiter explicitly whether the role's start date is fixed or flexible, since Labor Condition Application timelines with DOL can shift your actual first-day date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does FTI sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, FTI sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. Because consulting firms face elevated USCIS scrutiny on specialty occupation determinations, FTI's HR and legal teams typically require clear documentation tying your degree field directly to the Program Manager position before filing. Starting that conversation early in the offer process helps avoid delays.
Which visa types are commonly used for Program Manager roles at FTI?
FTI sponsors a range of visa categories for Program Managers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are also available for longer-term employees in this function.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at FTI?
You can browse and apply for Program Manager openings at FTI through Migrate Mate, which filters active listings by visa sponsorship type so you can target roles that match your authorization needs. FTI posts across multiple practice areas, so checking regularly matters. Applying through a referral from someone in FTI's consulting division meaningfully increases your chances of getting an interview.
What qualifications does FTI expect for Program Manager roles?
FTI typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline, with several years of project or program management experience in a consulting or professional services environment. PMP certification strengthens your profile. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the role's stated requirements, which FTI's legal team will assess during the H-1B petition process.
How do I time my job search at FTI if I need H-1B sponsorship?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject visa, target an FTI offer by late February so your employer can submit your USCIS registration in the March window for an October 1 start. If you're already on OPT or another status, timing is more flexible. Either way, flag your visa situation to FTI's recruiter at the first conversation to avoid late-stage complications.
