Frame your PMP around infrastructure projects
Freese and Nichols operates heavily in water, transportation, and civil infrastructure consulting. Tailor your resume to show program-level oversight on capital or municipal projects, not just internal corporate initiatives. That framing aligns directly with how they staff Program Manager roles.
Confirm LCA filing before accepting an offer
Before signing anything, ask whether the employer has already filed a Labor Condition Application with DOL for your role and location. For H-1B transfers or new petitions, the LCA must be certified before USCIS can process your I-129, and delays here affect your start date.
Use OPT strategically to build your candidacy
If you're on F-1 OPT, target Program Manager or PMO roles within Freese and Nichols where your degree field aligns with their engineering or environmental service lines. A strong OPT performance record strengthens the case for H-1B sponsorship when your employer files in the spring lottery window.
Verify your credentials meet specialty occupation standards
USCIS evaluates H-1B eligibility based on whether a bachelor's degree in a specific field is normally required for the role. For consulting Program Managers, a degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or a related technical discipline strengthens that determination significantly over a general business degree.
Search open roles on Migrate Mate before applying direct
Freese and Nichols posts Program Manager openings across multiple locations and service areas. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at this employer that align with your visa type, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship has historically been supported rather than hoping for it post-offer.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap timing
H-1B cap-subject petitions have an October 1 start date, so if you receive an offer and your lottery registration is pending, your employment start date needs to align with that window. Build this into your offer negotiation early so both sides have realistic expectations about onboarding timelines.

Does Freese and Nichols sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Freese and Nichols has sponsored H-1B visas for professional roles including Program Managers. Sponsorship decisions are made case by case, typically based on your qualifications and whether the role meets USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Candidates with technical degrees in engineering or environmental disciplines are generally stronger fits for H-1B support in this function.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Freese and Nichols?
You can browse and apply for Program Manager openings at Freese and Nichols through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can confirm sponsorship support before applying. Freese and Nichols also posts openings on their careers page. Applications typically require a resume, and roles at the program management level often expect a cover letter addressing relevant project experience.
Which visa types does Freese and Nichols commonly sponsor for Program Managers?
Freese and Nichols has sponsored H-1B visas and has supported F-1 OPT and CPT for students in relevant technical disciplines. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. J-1 sponsorship is less common for Program Manager roles but has been used in select cases. The right visa type depends on your nationality, degree, and employment timeline.
What qualifications does Freese and Nichols expect for Program Manager roles?
Most Program Manager roles at Freese and Nichols require a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering, environmental, or technical discipline, along with demonstrated experience managing multi-phase projects or client-facing engagements in consulting. PMP certification is frequently listed as preferred. Prior experience in infrastructure, water resources, or municipal consulting aligns well with the firm's core service areas.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Program Manager offer at Freese and Nichols?
For H-1B sponsorship, your employer files the petition after April 1, with an October 1 start date for cap-subject cases. TN visas can be processed at the border or through USCIS in as little as a few weeks. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS takes up to 90 days, so apply early. Building four to six months of buffer into your timeline is a practical baseline for H-1B pathways.
