Align your resume to civil infrastructure software
Freese and Nichols builds software for water, transportation, and environmental systems. Tailor your resume to highlight GIS tools, asset management platforms, or engineering data pipelines rather than generic web or consumer software experience.
Target roles tied to funded government contracts
As a government contractor, Freese and Nichols staffs projects against contract awards. Look for Software Engineer postings linked to specific municipal or state clients, as those roles have confirmed budget and are more likely to move quickly to an offer.
Browse open Software Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Freese and Nichols posts Software Engineer openings across multiple U.S. offices. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles with confirmed sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to positions where visa support is already on the table.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter for three-year degrees
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Software Engineer role. If you hold a three-year bachelor's degree from outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency before your employer's immigration counsel files the H-1B petition.

Find Software Engineer at Freese and Nichols JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Freese and Nichols sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Freese and Nichols has sponsored H-1B visas for Software Engineers. As an engineering consulting firm working on government infrastructure contracts, they have established processes for technical hires who need work authorization. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiting team when you receive an offer, since support can vary by project and office location.
Which visa types does Freese and Nichols commonly use for Software Engineer roles?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Software Engineer roles at Freese and Nichols. The firm also has experience with F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, as well as TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications. J-1 support is less common for full-time Software Engineer positions but worth confirming during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Freese and Nichols expect for Software Engineer positions?
Freese and Nichols typically expects a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, so your degree must align directly with the job duties. Experience with GIS systems, infrastructure data platforms, or engineering software common in municipal and environmental consulting strengthens your application considerably.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Freese and Nichols?
You can find and apply for Software Engineer positions at Freese and Nichols through Migrate Mate, which lists open roles with confirmed visa sponsorship eligibility. Review each posting's location and project focus carefully, since Freese and Nichols operates across multiple regional offices and role requirements vary by the public-sector client the team serves.
How do I manage my visa timeline when interviewing with Freese and Nichols?
If you're targeting an H-1B, the annual filing window opens in March for an October 1 start. Work backward from that date when negotiating your offer and start date with Freese and Nichols. If you're on OPT with limited time remaining, communicate your authorization end date early so their immigration counsel can assess whether premium processing or a cap-gap extension applies to your situation.
