Frame your credentials around engineering leadership
Freese and Nichols values managers who bridge technical depth and team oversight. Before applying, document projects where you led engineers on infrastructure or public-sector software work, not just individual contributor roles.
Target roles tied to government infrastructure projects
Freese and Nichols focuses heavily on public-sector clients. Software Engineering Manager openings tied to municipal or utilities work are more stable sponsorship opportunities because the project pipelines and headcount plans tend to run longer.
Verify your visa category fits a specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. For a Software Engineering Manager position, confirm the job description specifies a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field, not just general management experience.
Align your start date with H-1B cap timelines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March with an October 1 start date if selected. Build your offer negotiation around that window so Freese and Nichols can file your petition with enough lead time.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Software Engineering Manager roles
Sponsored roles at consulting firms like Freese and Nichols don't always surface on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Software Engineering Manager openings by visa sponsorship type so you're only applying where sponsorship is confirmed.
