Align your credentials to U.S. engineering standards
JPMorganChase evaluates Software Engineering Managers on both technical depth and people leadership. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation through a NACES-recognized service before you apply. It removes ambiguity during the H-1B specialty occupation assessment.
Target JPMorganChase's technology division lines specifically
JPMorganChase operates distinct technology hubs under its consumer, commercial, and asset management arms. Engineering manager roles in the Chase digital product or firmwide technology divisions tend to have clearer sponsorship precedent than those nested inside business operations units.
Surface your LCA-eligible offer early in negotiations
Once you reach the offer stage, ask whether the role's compensation meets the DOL prevailing wage for a Software Engineering Manager at that location. JPMorganChase files Labor Condition Applications before submitting your H-1B petition, and a salary misalignment can slow that process significantly.
Prepare for a structured technical and behavioral loop
Interviews for Software Engineering Manager roles at JPMorganChase typically include system design rounds plus engineering leadership scenarios. Sponsors want confidence you can deliver on both axes. Demonstrating experience managing cross-functional teams across distributed locations strengthens your profile for their global operating model.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
JPMorganChase sponsors multiple visa categories for this role. Use Migrate Mate to filter Software Engineering Manager openings by the visa type relevant to your situation, so you're only investing time in positions where your specific status is already supported.
Understand cap-gap exposure if you're on OPT
If you're transitioning from OPT to H-1B while employed at JPMorganChase, your cap-gap authorization extends your work authorization through September 30 of the lottery year if your petition is selected. Confirm your I-94 end date and USCIS receipt notice are aligned before your OPT expires.

Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineering Managers?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineering Manager roles. The company has an established immigration program and regularly files H-1B petitions for technology management positions. Sponsorship is typically contingent on the role qualifying as a specialty occupation, which Software Engineering Manager positions generally satisfy given the required technical degree background.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Software Engineering Manager roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for most Software Engineering Manager hires, along with H-1B1 visas for eligible candidates from Chile and Singapore, and E-3 visas for Australian nationals. For candidates on an employment-based immigrant pathway, the company also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, which typically becomes available after you've established tenure in the role.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Software Engineering Manager roles?
JPMorganChase typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, combined with hands-on software development experience and a track record of managing engineering teams. Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and Agile delivery practices is commonly expected. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications can strengthen your profile for senior-level openings.
How do I apply for Software Engineering Manager jobs at JPMorganChase?
You can browse and apply for Software Engineering Manager roles at JPMorganChase through Migrate Mate, which surfaces open positions filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on roles that match your status. When you apply, tailor your resume to highlight both technical leadership and engineering depth, since JPMorganChase's interview process evaluates both dimensions for management-level roles.
How do I understand the timeline for H-1B sponsorship at JPMorganChase?
The H-1B process follows a fixed federal calendar. USCIS opens registration in March, conducts the lottery, and employers file selected petitions by June for an October 1 start date. JPMorganChase typically initiates sponsorship coordination well before the registration window opens, so you'll want an offer in hand by early Q1 to stay on track for that cycle.
