Frame Your Experience Around Project Pursuits
Electrical contractors evaluate BD candidates on their ability to win work, not just relationship management. Document specific project pursuits you've led, bid volumes you've managed, and sectors like healthcare or industrial construction where Gaylor actively competes.
Target Gaylor's Regional Office Openings Strategically
Gaylor operates across multiple regions with distinct project pipelines. Applying to a location where they're actively pursuing large electrical construction contracts increases your leverage, since BD hiring usually follows active backlog and growth targets, not a centralized national calendar.
Get Your LCA Timing Right
Once Gaylor extends an offer, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Understand this sequence so you're not caught off guard by the two-step timeline between offer acceptance and work authorization.
Build a Subcontractor and GC Network Before Applying
Gaylor's BD team works closely with general contractors and subcontractor networks to identify opportunities. Demonstrating existing relationships in commercial or industrial construction markets signals immediate value and reduces the perceived risk of sponsoring an international hire.

Find Business Development at Gaylor Electric JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Gaylor Electric sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development roles?
Yes, Gaylor Electric has sponsored H-1B visas for Business Development positions. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, construction management, or engineering. Raise your visa situation directly with the hiring team once you reach the offer stage.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Gaylor Electric?
Apply through Gaylor Electric's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse their current Business Development openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to highlight experience in construction project pursuits, client development, and bid management. Mention your visa type and work authorization status clearly in your cover letter so the recruiting team can plan accordingly from the start.
Which visa types does Gaylor Electric commonly use for Business Development hires?
Gaylor Electric sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for Business Development roles. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering the field, while H-1B is the standard long-term path for professionals with a relevant degree. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations under the USMCA agreement.
What qualifications does Gaylor Electric expect for Business Development roles?
Gaylor typically looks for candidates with a background in construction management, civil or electrical engineering, or business development within the construction industry. Hands-on experience with proposal writing, pre-construction strategy, and client relationship management in commercial, industrial, or infrastructure sectors is valued. Familiarity with the electrical contracting market gives you a meaningful edge over generalist BD candidates.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Gaylor Electric Business Development offer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. F-1 OPT authorization can be in place quickly if your EAD is already issued. H-1B sponsorship is longer: the DOL Labor Condition Application typically takes one to three weeks, followed by USCIS adjudication that can range from a few months to over a year without premium processing. Plan your job search timeline around these windows, especially if your current status has an expiration date approaching.
