Align your credentials to Genentech's assay expectations
Genentech's Laboratory postings frequently require hands-on experience with specific platforms like flow cytometry, ELISA, or PCR-based assays. Document your bench skills in concrete terms on your resume so hiring managers can map your background directly to their methods.
Target roles tied to active IND programs
Genentech's most active Laboratory hiring tends to cluster around programs in late preclinical or early clinical stages. Positions supporting IND-enabling studies often carry more urgency to fill, which can accelerate the sponsorship conversation internally.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Laboratory roles
Filtering for Laboratory openings at companies with a demonstrated H-1B and EB-2/EB-3 history saves significant time. Migrate Mate lets you browse Genentech's current Laboratory postings alongside its sponsorship track record in one place.
Clarify LCA scope during the offer stage
Genentech operates across multiple California campuses and partner sites. Confirm with your recruiter which worksite the Labor Condition Application will cover, since DOL requires a separate LCA if your primary work location changes after filing.
Request premium processing if your start date is fixed
USCIS offers premium processing for H-1B petitions, which guarantees a decision within 15 business days. If your offer letter includes a specific start date tied to a project milestone, ask Genentech's immigration team whether they'll elect premium processing upfront.

Find Laboratory at Genentech JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Genentech sponsor H-1B visas for Laboratorys?
Yes, Genentech sponsors H-1B visas for Laboratory roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file H-1B petitions for qualifying positions, and Laboratory functions in research, quality control, and assay development have historically been among the roles supported. Sponsorship is generally tied to full-time offers rather than contract or temp-to-hire arrangements, so confirm employment type early in the process.
How do I apply for Laboratory jobs at Genentech?
Applications go through Genentech's careers portal on the Roche Group website. For Laboratory roles, tailor your resume to the specific techniques and instrumentation listed in the job description rather than submitting a generic document. If you need visa sponsorship, address that directly with the recruiter in the initial screening call rather than waiting until an offer is made. Migrate Mate also lists Genentech's open Laboratory positions filtered by sponsorship eligibility.
Which visa types does Genentech commonly use for Laboratory professionals?
Genentech supports several work visa categories for Laboratory staff, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT for students in qualifying programs, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible scientific occupations. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Genentech has a history of sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for Laboratory employees, typically after a period of full-time employment.
What qualifications does Genentech expect for sponsored Laboratory roles?
Most sponsored Laboratory positions at Genentech require at minimum a bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related life sciences field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B eligibility. Roles in method development or GMP quality labs often require direct experience with regulatory frameworks like FDA 21 CFR Part 11. Advanced degrees strengthen both your application and your Green Card pathway options under EB-2.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Genentech Laboratory offer?
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, the clock is set by the H-1B cap registration window, which opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. From offer acceptance to an approved H-1B petition, the standard timeline runs six to nine months without premium processing. USCIS premium processing reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days, which Genentech's immigration team may elect depending on project timelines and start date requirements.
