Match your role to PERM-eligible job codes
Airbnb files PERM labor certifications through DOL, which ties each Green Card to a specific job title and duties. Before applying, verify your target role maps to a well-defined occupation in O*NET so the PERM description won't be contested during the recruitment phase.
Target engineering and product teams first
Airbnb's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in software engineering, data science, and product management. If you're in hospitality operations or marketing, expect a longer path to sponsorship eligibility since these functions see less consistent Green Card filing activity across the company.
Clarify your EB category before accepting an offer
EB-2 requires a position that genuinely demands an advanced degree, while EB-3 covers roles requiring a bachelor's. At Airbnb, senior engineering and research roles typically qualify for EB-2, which can mean a shorter priority date wait for nationals from most countries outside India and China.
Ask about Green Card timelines during offer negotiation
Airbnb's immigration team generally initiates Green Card filings after one year of H-1B employment. Raise the question explicitly during offer discussions so you understand whether your role qualifies and what the expected PERM filing window looks like relative to your H-1B expiration date.
Build a wage-benchmarking file using OFLC Wage Search
PERM requires Airbnb to advertise your role at or above the prevailing wage for your job zone and location. Running your own OFLC Wage Search lookup before interviews tells you whether the offered salary clears the DOL threshold, which matters if you ever need to renegotiate during the filing process.
Use Migrate Mate to find Airbnb Green Card openings
Migrate Mate surfaces roles at Airbnb that have active Green Card filing history by job category, so you can target positions where sponsorship is already established rather than negotiating it from scratch. Filter by visa type to see which teams are currently sponsoring Green Cards.
Airbnb Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Airbnb sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Airbnb sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying full-time employees. Sponsorship is most consistent in software engineering, data science, and product roles. The process typically runs through PERM labor certification under the EB-2 or EB-3 category, and Airbnb generally initiates filings after a period of H-1B visa employment rather than at the point of hire.
Which departments at Airbnb are most likely to sponsor a Green Card?
Engineering, data science, product management, and UX research see the highest Green Card sponsorship activity at Airbnb. Corporate functions like finance, legal, and HR sponsor less frequently. Roles in hospitality operations or community support are rarely sponsored for Green Card, so targeting a technical or product-oriented position gives you the clearest path.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Airbnb?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Airbnb job listings by Green Card filing history, so you can identify which roles and teams have an established sponsorship track record before you apply. This saves significant time compared to asking about Green Card eligibility after an offer, when renegotiating is harder.
How long does the Green Card process take at Airbnb?
The timeline depends on your nationality and the EB category. For most nationalities outside India and China, EB-2 or EB-3 PERM cases at Airbnb typically take two to four years from PERM filing to Green Card approval. Indian and Chinese nationals face significantly longer waits due to per-country visa backlogs tracked by USCIS and the State Department.
What is the PERM process and how does it affect my Green Card application at Airbnb?
PERM is DOL's labor certification process that Airbnb must complete before filing your immigrant visa petition with USCIS. Airbnb advertises your position through approved recruitment steps and demonstrates no qualified U.S. workers were available. PERM approval is the foundation of EB-2 and EB-3 cases and typically takes six to eighteen months before USCIS adjudicates the petition.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Airbnb?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
