Match your credentials to the right EB pathway
Henry Ford Health files under both EB-2 and EB-3 depending on the role's minimum requirements. Physicians and advanced practice clinicians with specialty training typically qualify for EB-2, while registered nurses and allied health staff are more commonly sponsored through EB-3 with PERM labor certification.
Document your clinical scope before applying
PERM requires Henry Ford Health to prove no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific role. Having your licensure, certifications, and any subspecialty training documented upfront helps the employer define the position narrowly enough that your background is the qualifying benchmark.
Target departments with recurring sponsorship history
Cardiology, oncology, critical care, and hospital medicine units at Henry Ford Health have historically supported Green Card sponsorship for physicians and nurses. Focusing your application on these departments increases the likelihood you're joining a team where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before accepting an offer
Green Card sponsorship is employer-driven, so confirm whether Henry Ford Health will cover PERM and I-140 filing fees in your offer letter. Some health systems split costs with the employee; getting written clarity at the offer stage prevents disputes once the process is underway.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Henry Ford Health's filing activity
Before your interview, search Henry Ford Health's DOL Labor Condition Application history on Migrate Mate to see which job titles and locations the system has filed for. This tells you whether your specific role and department has a real track record of Green Card sponsorship, not just general willingness.
Understand how PERM audit risk affects your timeline
DOL audits a portion of PERM applications, which can extend the labor certification stage by a year or more. Henry Ford Health roles in high-demand occupations like nursing face elevated audit scrutiny. Ask the HR immigration team whether they've filed for your job title recently and whether prior audits occurred.
Henry Ford Health Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Henry Ford Health sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Henry Ford Health sponsors Green Cards for qualifying clinical and research staff. Sponsorship is most common for physicians, registered nurses, and allied health professionals already employed at the health system on work visas such as H-1B or E-3. The process typically runs through EB-2 or EB-3 with PERM labor certification filed by the employer.
Which roles at Henry Ford Health typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Henry Ford Health is concentrated in clinical roles requiring specialized credentials, including physicians in subspecialty medicine, registered nurses in acute care settings, and select research or laboratory positions. Administrative and support roles are less commonly sponsored. Checking active job postings on Migrate Mate helps identify which open positions include sponsorship.
How do I start the Green Card process at Henry Ford Health?
The process begins with Henry Ford Health filing a PERM labor certification with DOL to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available for your position. Once PERM is certified, the employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. You're responsible for the final adjustment of status or consular processing step once your priority date becomes current.
How long does the Green Card process take at Henry Ford Health?
Timeline depends heavily on your EB category and country of birth. EB-2 and EB-3 applicants born in countries without significant backlogs can complete the process in two to four years including PERM. Applicants from high-demand countries may face extended waits due to annual visa caps. USCIS publishes monthly Visa Bulletins that show current priority date movement.
How do I know if a specific Henry Ford Health job posting includes Green Card sponsorship?
Job postings don't always state Green Card sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate shows DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer and job title, so you can confirm whether Henry Ford Health has previously filed for your target role before investing time in the application. You can also ask the recruiter directly during the initial screening call.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Henry Ford Health?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
