Target faculty and instructional roles first
Ivy Tech's Green Card sponsorship is most common in teaching and curriculum-focused positions. If you have a graduate degree in a technical or vocational field, faculty openings are your strongest entry point into the sponsorship pipeline.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at Ivy Tech typically runs through PERM, where the college must document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Be prepared for a multi-year timeline and maintain valid work authorization throughout the entire process.
Ask about sponsorship policy during the offer stage
Ivy Tech handles Green Card decisions at the departmental and HR level. Raise the topic after receiving a conditional offer rather than during early interviews to avoid disqualifying yourself before the hiring committee is invested in you.
Use Migrate Mate to identify verified sponsoring roles
Not every Ivy Tech posting leads to Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus applications on positions where sponsorship has actually been granted before.
Align your credentials with Indiana workforce priorities
Ivy Tech serves Indiana's community college system. Roles tied to high-demand state workforce programs, such as healthcare technology, advanced manufacturing, and IT, tend to attract stronger institutional support for retaining sponsored employees long term.
Build a relationship before you need sponsorship
Ivy Tech is more likely to sponsor Green Cards for employees who have already demonstrated value. Starting on H-1B visa or TN visa status and building a performance record significantly improves your chances of the college initiating the Green Card process.
Ivy Tech Community College Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ivy Tech Community College sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Ivy Tech Community College does sponsor Green Card visas for select positions. Sponsorship is not offered for every role and is generally reserved for specialized faculty, technical instructors, and professional staff where the college has difficulty finding qualified U.S. applicants. Candidates should confirm sponsorship availability directly with HR during the hiring process.
Which roles and departments at Ivy Tech Community College are most likely to offer Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Ivy Tech is most commonly associated with full-time faculty positions in technical, healthcare, and STEM disciplines, as well as specialized administrative and instructional design roles. Departments tied to Indiana's workforce development priorities tend to have the strongest institutional motivation to support long-term sponsorship for retained employees.
How do I start the Green Card process at Ivy Tech Community College?
The process typically begins after you've secured employment and demonstrated value in your role. Ivy Tech works with immigration counsel to file a PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. The college initiates sponsorship, so the most important step is confirming willingness to sponsor before or during the job offer stage.
How long does Green Card sponsorship take at Ivy Tech Community College?
The full Green Card process generally takes several years from PERM filing to approval, and that timeline can extend further depending on your country of birth and the applicable priority date backlog. PERM alone can take a year or more. You'll need to maintain valid work authorization throughout, so planning ahead with your employer and an immigration attorney is essential.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Ivy Tech Community College?
Start by searching Ivy Tech's official careers portal for full-time faculty and professional staff openings. For a more targeted approach, Migrate Mate lists verified Green Card sponsors and lets you filter by employer, so you can quickly identify whether current Ivy Tech openings have a real sponsorship history before investing time in an application.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Ivy Tech Community College?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
