Align your credentials with PERM requirements early
PERM requires your degree and experience to match the job description precisely. Before applying to Jacobs, verify that your qualifications satisfy the minimum requirements for your target role, any mismatch can derail the labor certification filing later.
Target roles with documented sponsorship history
Jacobs sponsors Green Cards most consistently in civil, structural, and environmental engineering roles. Focus your applications on technical project delivery positions rather than corporate functions, where sponsorship is less common and the business case harder to establish.
Understand which EB category your role qualifies for
Most Jacobs engineering roles fall under EB-3, which requires PERM labor certification. If you hold an advanced degree and your work serves a national interest, EB-2 may apply. EB-1 is available for those with extraordinary ability, bypassing PERM entirely.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Jacobs's Green Card filing patterns
Before your interview, use Migrate Mate to review Jacobs's DOL Labor Condition Application history by job title and location. This tells you which roles and offices have the strongest sponsorship track record, so you can ask informed questions during the hiring process.
Negotiate sponsorship commitment before accepting an offer
Jacobs typically initiates Green Card filing after you've demonstrated performance in the role. During the offer stage, ask HR directly which point in your tenure the sponsorship process begins and whether it's contingent on a performance review or project milestone.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC prevailing wage levels
PERM filings require Jacobs to pay at least the prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Before your offer, use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your job title so you can assess whether the offer meets the threshold PERM will require.
Jacobs Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jacobs sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Jacobs sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying international employees, primarily in engineering and technical project roles. Sponsorship is typically initiated after a period of employment and is most common in civil, structural, environmental, and project management positions across Jacobs's infrastructure and government services divisions.
Which roles and departments at Jacobs typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Jacobs is concentrated in technical engineering roles, including civil, structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. Project management positions tied to large infrastructure programs also see sponsorship activity. Corporate support functions such as finance and HR are sponsored far less frequently, so targeting project delivery teams improves your odds.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Jacobs?
Jacobs typically files under the EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories, which require PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition. Your Jacobs HR team or a retained immigration attorney manages the PERM filing. You'll need to provide educational credentials, employment history, and any required evaluations to support the application.
How long does the Green Card process take when sponsored by Jacobs?
The timeline depends on your country of birth and the EB category. For most nationalities, PERM takes roughly six to twelve months, followed by USCIS adjudication of the I-140 petition. If your priority date is current, you can file for adjustment of status concurrently. Indian and Chinese nationals face significantly longer waits due to per-country backlogs.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Jacobs?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified Green Card sponsorship history, so you can identify Jacobs openings where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than a possibility. Cross-reference those listings with Jacobs's careers page to confirm the roles are active, then apply directly through Jacobs's official application portal.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Jacobs?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
