Target faculty and research roles first
Green Card sponsorship at KSU is most common for tenure-track faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and specialized research staff. Focusing your application on these departments gives you the strongest chance of finding a role with sponsorship support.
Understand the EB-1B and EB-2 pathways for academics
Universities like KSU commonly sponsor faculty through the EB-1B outstanding researcher or EB-2 National Interest Waiver pathways. Knowing which category fits your profile before applying helps you ask the right questions during interviews.
Raise sponsorship during the offer stage, not before
KSU's HR and immigration teams handle Green Card discussions at the offer or post-offer stage. Bringing it up too early in the process can work against you, so wait until there is genuine mutual interest.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship history
Before applying to KSU roles, verify their Green Card sponsorship track record. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your time on positions that are genuinely likely to sponsor.
Align your application materials to KSU's academic mission
KSU values teaching quality, research output, and community engagement. Tailoring your CV and cover letter to reflect these priorities signals you understand the institution and strengthens your case for a long-term sponsorship commitment.
Build relationships within your target department
Green Card sponsorship at universities often depends on departmental support, not just HR approval. Connecting with faculty or department chairs at KSU before or during the hiring process can meaningfully influence whether sponsorship is offered.
Kennesaw State University Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Kennesaw State University sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is most consistently available for tenure-track faculty, researchers, and select specialized professional staff. Like most public universities, KSU routes sponsorship through its Office of Legal Affairs or an authorized immigration counsel, and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis depending on the role and department.
Which roles and departments at Kennesaw State University are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Faculty positions, particularly tenure-track and tenured roles across KSU's colleges, are the most common candidates for Green Card sponsorship. Research-intensive departments in fields like computer science, engineering, business, and the sciences tend to have the highest sponsorship activity. Some specialized administrative and professional staff roles are sponsored as well, though this is less common than for academic appointments.
How do I start the Green Card process at Kennesaw State University?
The process typically begins after KSU extends a formal job offer. Your hiring department initiates a request with KSU's immigration support team, which then determines the appropriate Green Card category, most often EB-1B for outstanding researchers or EB-2 with PERM labor certification. Your role is to provide academic credentials, publications, and employment history as requested by the immigration team or outside counsel.
How long does the Green Card process take at Kennesaw State University?
Timelines vary significantly depending on your visa category and country of birth. EB-1B petitions can move faster, sometimes reaching approval within one to two years, while EB-2 cases requiring PERM labor certification typically take longer. Applicants born in India or China face additional wait times due to priority date backlogs. KSU's immigration team can give you a realistic estimate once your category is determined.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Kennesaw State University?
KSU posts open positions through its official careers portal, but not all listings indicate whether Green Card sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate is a useful starting point because it identifies employers with verified Green Card sponsorship histories, so you can search KSU openings with greater confidence that the company is willing to sponsor. Cross-referencing both sources gives you the clearest picture of available opportunities.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Kennesaw State University?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
