Target engineering and technical roles first
Spirit AeroSystems's Green Card filings are concentrated in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, and technical program management. Focusing your application on these departments gives you the strongest chance of landing a role with a clear path to permanent residency.
Confirm sponsorship intent before you apply
Not every open role at Spirit AeroSystems comes with a Green Card commitment. During initial recruiter conversations, ask directly whether the position includes Green Card sponsorship as part of the offer. Getting clarity early avoids wasted time in a long process.
Understand the PERM process timeline
Green Card sponsorship at large aerospace employers like Spirit AeroSystems typically involves PERM labor certification, which can take over a year before an I-140 is even filed. Build that timeline into your planning, especially if you're currently on a work visa with an expiration date.
Use Migrate Mate to surface verified sponsorship roles
Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history. When searching for Spirit AeroSystems Green Card jobs, this helps you identify which open positions have a demonstrated track record rather than relying on job posting language alone.
Align your background with defense and aerospace priorities
Spirit AeroSystems supports major defense and commercial aviation programs. Candidates whose experience maps directly to fuselage structures, aerostructures, or avionics supply chain work are far more likely to be considered for sponsored roles in a highly specialized hiring environment.
Build a relationship before the offer stage
At aerospace companies like Spirit AeroSystems, hiring managers often influence whether a role gets immigration support. Networking with current employees in your target department, even before a formal application, can surface sponsorship-eligible openings that never appear publicly.
Spirit AeroSystems Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Spirit AeroSystems sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Spirit AeroSystems sponsors Green Card visas for eligible employees. Sponsorship is most common in engineering and technical disciplines that are core to its aerospace and defense operations. Green Card support is typically initiated after a period of employment, and not every role automatically qualifies, so confirming sponsorship intent with your recruiter early in the process is important.
Which roles and departments at Spirit AeroSystems are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Spirit AeroSystems tends to concentrate in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, structures and systems design, and technical program roles. These positions require specialized knowledge that aligns with Spirit's core work in aerostructures and defense contracts. Roles in corporate functions like finance or HR are less commonly sponsored for permanent residency.
How does the Green Card application process work at Spirit AeroSystems?
Spirit AeroSystems typically sponsors Green Cards through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories. The process begins with PERM labor certification, where the company demonstrates no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Once PERM is approved, Spirit files an I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf. The timeline from PERM filing to a final Green Card can span several years depending on your country of birth.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Spirit AeroSystems sponsorship?
The timeline depends on your country of birth and the visa category. For applicants born outside high-demand countries, Green Card processing through Spirit AeroSystems can take roughly two to four years from the start of PERM. For applicants born in India or China, backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories mean the wait can extend significantly longer. Starting the process as early as possible matters enormously.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Spirit AeroSystems that are open to sponsorship?
Job postings rarely specify Green Card sponsorship clearly, which makes it easy to apply for roles where no immigration support is offered. Migrate Mate helps by surfacing Spirit AeroSystems roles with verified sponsorship history, so you can prioritize applications where sponsorship is a real possibility. Once you identify a strong match, confirm sponsorship directly with the recruiter before investing significant time in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Spirit AeroSystems?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
