Departmental Analyst 9-P11
This position functions as an Automation Departmental Analyst in the Corrections Offender Management System (COMS) section within the Office of Research and Planning Division. This position participates as a member of various project teams, working as part of a team within one of the project workgroups (Planning and Analysis, Design and Development, Testing, or Implementation) on assigned tasks focused on implementing new COMS modules or large enhancements on existing COMS modules.
In addition, this position works within the Maintenance category to complete maintenance and user support assignments for existing COMS modules, including system configuration work and researching/documenting system issues.
This position provides general support and focuses on the Department’s strategic data systems objectives of retiring legacy systems over a period of years as the COMS implementation evolves.
Departmental Analyst 12
This position functions as a Lead Automation Departmental Analyst in the Corrections Offender Management System (COMS) section within the Office of Research and Planning Division. This position leads one or more work groups within a project team focused on implementing new COMS modules or significant enhancements to existing COMS modules. Work groups include (Requirements Gathering, Business Process Engineering, Security Roles, Data Migration, Test Planning, etc.).
In addition, this position works within the Maintenance area to complete advanced maintenance and user support assignments for existing COMS modules, including completing system configuration for simple maintenance requests and developing change orders or reviewing vendor change order requests.
This position is a lead support role and focuses on the Department’s strategic data systems objectives of retiring legacy systems over a period of years as the COMS implementation evolves.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
Additional Requirements and Information
Work Location: This position is located in Lansing, Michigan and will require reporting in person for the first two weeks. After the initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be approved that will allow work to be performed remotely up to 50% of the time with the other 50% of the work being performed in-person in Lansing.
