Target roles that align with specialty occupation standards
CANAM's consulting work tends to require degree-specific expertise. Focus your application on roles where your field of study directly maps to the job function, since H-1B approval hinges on demonstrating a clear educational requirement for the position.
Clarify sponsorship willingness early in the process
Consulting firms vary on which roles they will sponsor. Bring up H-1B sponsorship before the offer stage so both sides can assess fit. Recruiters at CANAM can often confirm sponsorship eligibility for a specific role upfront.
Understand where CANAM fits in the H-1B process
As your petitioning employer, CANAM would file the Labor Condition Application and I-129 petition on your behalf. Knowing what that involves helps you ask informed questions and shows recruiters you understand what sponsorship actually requires.
Use a verified job board to find open roles
Not every listing on general job boards reflects real sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, making it easier to find CANAM openings where H-1B support is confirmed.
Highlight project-based consulting experience in your application
CANAM operates in a client-facing consulting environment. Emphasizing your track record on complex, specialized projects signals you can contribute immediately, which strengthens the business case for sponsoring your H-1B petition.
Account for H-1B lottery timing in your job search plan
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Engaging with CANAM's recruiting team well before that window gives you the best chance of having a petition filed in time.
CANAM H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does CANAM sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, CANAM sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in its consulting and professional services operations. Sponsorship is typically extended to candidates in specialized positions where a specific degree background is required. If you're applying for a role that meets the specialty occupation standard, it's worth confirming sponsorship availability directly with the recruiting team.
Which roles at CANAM are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at CANAM tends to be concentrated in roles that require specialized knowledge in fields like technology, finance, engineering, or business consulting. Positions where a relevant bachelor's degree or higher is a genuine requirement, rather than a preference, are the strongest candidates for sponsorship consideration.
How do I apply for a role at CANAM if I need H-1B sponsorship?
Apply through CANAM's careers page or verified job listings and indicate your need for sponsorship when prompted. Raising your visa situation early, rather than after an offer is extended, avoids delays. You can also use Migrate Mate to identify current CANAM openings where sponsorship has been confirmed, which helps you prioritize the right opportunities.
How do I know what timeline to expect for H-1B processing at CANAM?
Once an offer is confirmed and CANAM agrees to sponsor, the employer files a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, followed by the I-129 petition with USCIS. Standard processing can take several months. If your start date is time-sensitive, ask whether CANAM will support premium processing, which USCIS adjudicates within a faster window.
How do I stand out as an H-1B candidate applying to CANAM?
Consulting firms sponsor H-1B visas when the business case is clear. Demonstrating deep, specialized expertise in an area relevant to CANAM's client work, and showing you understand what sponsorship involves, signals you're worth the investment. Arrive prepared to discuss how your specific skills translate to deliverables, not just general qualifications.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at CANAM?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
