Align your degree to CLA's specialty occupation roles
CLA's H-1B filings concentrate in accounting, tax advisory, and consulting roles that require a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Cross-check your credential against the O*NET occupation profile for your target role before applying to confirm your degree field qualifies.
Target CLA's campus recruiting pipeline early
CLA recruits heavily through university accounting and business programs, and many H-1B sponsorships begin as intern-to-full-time conversions. Pursuing CLA's internship or campus new-hire track puts you on the path where sponsorship conversations happen before your OPT clock runs down.
Use Migrate Mate to verify CLA's LCA filing history
Before negotiating your offer, search CLA's Labor Condition Application history on Migrate Mate to see which job titles and office locations the firm has filed for. That data tells you which practice areas have active sponsorship precedents and where to focus your conversations with recruiters.
Confirm your offer letter specifies specialty occupation language
USCIS requires the petition to establish that your specific role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Ask CLA's HR team to confirm the offer letter names your degree field as a requirement, not a preference, so the I-129 petition doesn't invite a Request for Evidence.
Understand CLA's H-1B lottery timing against your OPT end date
H-1B petitions for cap-subject cases must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. Map your OPT expiration against that window and discuss the cap-gap rule with CLA's immigration contact early, so both sides know whether a bridge period applies.
Check the prevailing wage before salary discussions
DOL requires CLA to pay at least the prevailing wage for your job title and work location. Run your role and metro area through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you can verify your salary meets the Level I or Level II threshold that applies to your experience.
CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, CLA sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying professional roles in accounting, tax, and advisory services. Sponsorship is most common for positions that require a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as accounting, finance, or business. Candidates typically enter the sponsorship process through full-time offers following an internship or campus recruitment.
Which roles and departments at CLA typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at CLA is concentrated in client-facing professional roles across its audit, tax, and consulting practice lines. Positions such as staff accountant, tax associate, and advisory analyst are the most common entry points. Back-office or administrative roles are unlikely to qualify under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I start the H-1B sponsorship process at CLA?
Once CLA extends a full-time offer, the firm's HR or immigration team engages an outside immigration counsel to prepare and file the I-129 petition. Your role is to provide educational credentials, passport details, and any prior immigration history. Migrate Mate can help you review CLA's historical LCA filings to understand what documentation patterns the firm's petitions typically follow.
How long does the H-1B process take at CLA?
For cap-subject cases, the process follows the standard USCIS H-1B lottery cycle: registration opens in March, selections are announced in late March or April, and approved petitions take effect October 1. Standard USCIS adjudication runs several months after filing; premium processing can reduce that to about 15 business days per USCIS guidelines.
What can I do to strengthen my H-1B application at CLA?
Ensure your degree transcript and any credential evaluation clearly map your field of study to your job title at CLA. If your degree is from outside the U.S., obtain a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-member agency. Keeping your employment records and I-94 history accurate and organized reduces delays when CLA's immigration counsel prepares the petition.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen)?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
