Target practice groups with international client bases
Dentons's cross-border practices, including corporate, finance, and international arbitration, are more likely to sponsor H-1B visas due to their demand for attorneys with specialized foreign law knowledge or multilingual capabilities.
Understand how law firm H-1B sponsorship works
At firms like Dentons, H-1B sponsorship is typically reserved for associates and professional staff whose roles meet the specialty occupation standard. Confirming your role qualifies early in the process avoids surprises later.
Apply directly through Dentons's careers portal
Dentons posts open roles on its official careers page. Filtering by U.S. office locations and practice group helps identify positions most likely to come with H-1B sponsorship for international candidates.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history before applying
Migrate Mate surfaces verified H-1B sponsors so you can confirm Dentons's actual sponsorship activity before investing time in an application. This helps you prioritize roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Highlight specialized legal expertise in your application
Dentons values candidates with niche legal skills that are genuinely hard to source domestically. Demonstrating expertise in a specific area of law strengthens the specialty occupation argument central to any H-1B petition.
Engage with Dentons at law school recruiting events
Many H-1B sponsorships at large law firms begin through on-campus recruiting. Connecting with Dentons recruiters early signals serious interest and gives you a natural opportunity to raise visa sponsorship questions directly.
Dentons H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Dentons sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Dentons sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles across its U.S. offices. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every open position, and Dentons evaluates H-1B eligibility on a role-by-role basis. Candidates in specialized legal, compliance, and professional staff positions are most likely to be considered for sponsorship.
Which roles and departments at Dentons are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Dentons tends to be concentrated in associate attorney positions within practice groups that require a specific legal background, such as corporate, finance, intellectual property, and international law. Certain professional staff roles, including legal operations and technology positions, may also qualify depending on degree requirements.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Dentons?
Once Dentons agrees to sponsor you, their in-house legal team or an external immigration firm handles the H-1B petition. Your role is to provide accurate employment history, educational credentials, and any supporting documentation. The process includes Labor Condition Application filing with the Department of Labor before the H-1B petition is submitted to USCIS.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at a firm like Dentons?
The H-1B timeline depends on when you apply relative to the annual cap. Cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, with registration opening in March. From registration to work authorization, the process spans roughly six to eight months. Premium processing is available and reduces the USCIS adjudication window to around 15 business days.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Dentons and other verified sponsors?
Migrate Mate lists H-1B sponsoring employers with verified sponsorship history, making it easier to identify which law firms and companies have a genuine track record. Searching for Dentons specifically on Migrate Mate lets you see open roles alongside sponsorship context, so you're applying with confidence rather than guessing at a firm's willingness to sponsor.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Dentons?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
