Align your credentials to infrastructure specializations
H W Lochner's H-1B filings cluster around civil and transportation engineering disciplines. Before applying, verify your degree field and any professional engineer credentials map directly to the role's specialty occupation requirements, since mismatches between your major and the posted position are a common RFE trigger.
Research H W Lochner's active project portfolio
Consulting firms like H W Lochner hire H-1B workers against specific project needs, not standing headcount. Identify the firm's current transportation and infrastructure contracts through state DOT award announcements, then target your application to offices running those projects for stronger sponsorship alignment.
Search verified LCA filings before your interview
Use Migrate Mate to pull H W Lochner's Labor Condition Application filing history by occupation code before your first interview. Knowing which roles the firm has certified with DOL lets you frame your experience against the job categories they've already committed to sponsoring.
Confirm specialty occupation standing for your role
Engineering consulting roles at H W Lochner typically satisfy H-1B specialty occupation requirements, but generalist project coordinator titles can face scrutiny. Cross-reference the job description against the O*NET occupation profile to confirm the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field.
Get your prevailing wage tier in writing early
Ask the recruiter which DOL wage level the LCA will certify at before an offer is finalized. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your occupation and work location, so you can evaluate whether the offered salary meets the legal floor without surprises at signing.
Build in buffer time for the H-1B cap lottery
H W Lochner must file H-1B cap petitions during USCIS's March registration window for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your EAD expiration against that timeline. A gap between OPT expiration and October 1 requires either a STEM OPT extension or a cap-gap authorization to remain work-authorized.
H W Lochner H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does H W Lochner sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, H W Lochner sponsors H-1B visas for qualified engineering and consulting professionals. Sponsorship is tied to project-driven hiring needs in transportation, infrastructure, and civil engineering, so availability varies by office location and active contract pipeline rather than being a blanket company-wide benefit offered to all new hires.
Which roles at H W Lochner are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at H W Lochner is most commonly associated with civil, structural, and transportation engineering positions that require a specialized bachelor's degree or higher. Project engineering and design roles tied to DOT contracts are the most consistent sponsorship candidates, while administrative or generalist positions are less likely to qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards.
How does H W Lochner handle the H-1B application process for new hires?
H W Lochner typically works with outside immigration counsel to manage the H-1B process on behalf of sponsored employees. The employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL, then submits the I-129 petition to USCIS. New hires should clarify during the offer stage whether the firm covers filing fees and whether premium processing is available for faster adjudication.
How do I estimate my H-1B timeline if I receive an offer from H W Lochner?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, USCIS registration opens in March and approved petitions take effect October 1. Standard I-129 processing runs several months, while premium processing reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days. If you're transitioning from OPT or another status, confirm your authorized work period covers the gap between your current authorization end date and the October 1 start.
How do I find H-1B jobs at H W Lochner that are open to sponsored candidates?
Migrate Mate shows H W Lochner's LCA filing history by job title and location, letting you identify which role categories the company has historically certified for H-1B sponsorship. Pair that with a direct search on H W Lochner's careers page, filtering for engineering roles in states where the firm holds active infrastructure contracts for the strongest match.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at H W Lochner?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
