Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Hitachi America's H-1B filings center on roles requiring a directly related bachelor's degree or higher. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target role and confirm the job zone and education requirements match before you apply.
Target distribution-facing technical roles first
Within Hitachi America's U.S. operations, roles bridging distribution systems and technology, such as supply chain analysts and logistics engineers, carry stronger H-1B approval history. Prioritize these over general business support functions when scanning open positions.
Verify prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your specific occupation and Hitachi America's work location. Knowing the DOL wage floor before an offer means you won't accept a salary that jeopardizes LCA certification.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment during employer screening
Hitachi America, like most multinational employers, participates in E-Verify, which USCIS requires for H-1B cap-exempt entities and strongly associated with compliant sponsors. Verify enrollment status early so you aren't waiting until after an offer to confirm the company's readiness to file.
Search Hitachi America's H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate
Before applying, use Migrate Mate to review Hitachi America's H-1B filing history by occupation and work site. Seeing which roles have actually been sponsored helps you prioritize job titles where a petition is a realistic outcome, not just a recruiter's promise.
Build your petition package before the offer letter arrives
H-1B cap season runs April 1 with registration opening in March, leaving little preparation time after an offer. Gather your transcripts, degree evaluations if your credential is foreign, and employment verification letters in advance so USCIS filing deadlines don't catch you underprepared.
Hitachi America H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hitachi America sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Hitachi America sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles within its U.S. operations. Sponsorship is most consistently tied to technical and operational positions in distribution, supply chain, and business systems. Because sponsorship decisions are made at the business unit level, confirming H-1B support with your hiring manager early in the process is strongly recommended.
Which roles at Hitachi America typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Hitachi America is most common in roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning positions requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Supply chain analysts, logistics technology roles, and business analysts within distribution-facing teams have historically aligned with H-1B filing patterns. General administrative or sales roles are less likely to qualify.
How do I find out if a specific Hitachi America role is H-1B eligible?
Use Migrate Mate to review Hitachi America's Labor Condition Application filing history filtered by occupation and location. Cross-reference the job description against the O*NET occupation profile to confirm the role meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria. If the job listing doesn't mention visa sponsorship, ask the recruiter directly before advancing in the process.
How do I navigate the H-1B application timeline at Hitachi America?
Hitachi America would need to file your H-1B petition during the annual cap season, with USCIS registration typically opening in March and the cap lottery running in late March or early April. If selected, your employer files the full I-129 petition by April 1 for an October 1 start date. Plan your job search and offer acceptance timeline accordingly to avoid missing the filing window.
What should I do if Hitachi America's recruiter is unfamiliar with H-1B sponsorship details?
It's common for recruiters at large companies to handle initial screening without deep knowledge of the H-1B process. Ask to be connected with the HR compliance team or immigration counsel once you reach the offer stage. Bring documentation of your visa status, current work authorization, and any OPT end dates so the team can assess your timeline against USCIS filing deadlines without delays.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Hitachi America?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
