How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Hntb H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and technical roles first
HNTB's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in specialty occupation roles, particularly civil, structural, and transportation engineering. Focus your applications on positions where a specific degree field is explicitly required, not just preferred.
Understand HNTB's project-based hiring cycle
Like most infrastructure consulting firms, HNTB hires around project wins and contract awards. Timing your application to align with large infrastructure contracts increases your chances of landing a role with sponsorship attached.
Confirm sponsorship willingness before applying
Not every open role at HNTB will come with H-1B sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified sponsoring employers and roles, so you're only investing time in applications where sponsorship is confirmed.
Prepare for a structured interview process
HNTB uses technical and behavioral interviews typical of large consulting firms. Be ready to discuss your degree field, your specific engineering discipline, and how your qualifications align with the specialty occupation requirements for H-1B eligibility.
Ask about LCA and petition timing early
H-1B petitions are tied to the April lottery and October 1 start dates. Raise the sponsorship conversation early with your recruiter so HNTB's immigration counsel can begin the Labor Condition Application process without missing the filing window.
Highlight your degree field, not just your experience
For H-1B specialty occupation approval, your degree must directly relate to the role. When applying at HNTB, lead with your academic credentials and make the connection between your degree field and the specific engineering or technical position explicit.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does HNTB sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, HNTB sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles. Sponsorship is most consistent in engineering and technical positions across its transportation, infrastructure, and planning practice areas. As with most consulting firms, not every open role will include sponsorship, so confirming this directly with the recruiter early in the process is important.
Which roles and departments at HNTB are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at HNTB is most common in roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, typically civil engineering, structural engineering, transportation planning, and related technical disciplines. Corporate, administrative, and general support functions are less likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship because the degree requirement for those roles is often broader.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at HNTB?
Once HNTB extends a job offer with sponsorship, the process involves HNTB's immigration counsel filing a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, followed by the H-1B petition with USCIS. Your role is primarily to provide documentation, including degree credentials and employment history. HNTB's HR team coordinates the timeline with outside counsel.
How long does it take to start working at HNTB on an H-1B?
If you require a new H-1B through the lottery, expect to wait until October 1 of the fiscal year your petition is selected, which means a gap of several months from the April registration period. If you already hold a valid H-1B from another employer, HNTB can file a transfer petition and you may be able to start work as soon as it is received by USCIS.
How do I find open H-1B jobs at HNTB?
Migrate Mate lists roles from confirmed H-1B sponsors including HNTB, so you can search specifically for positions where sponsorship has been verified rather than guessing from a generic job board. Filter by industry, visa type, and role to surface engineering and consulting positions at HNTB that are realistically open to H-1B candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Hntb?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
