Job Roles at McDonald's
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in McDonald's H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target corporate and tech roles, not restaurant positions
McDonald's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated at its corporate offices, not franchise locations. Focus your search on roles in software engineering, data analytics, supply chain, and finance at McDonald's headquarters in Chicago.
Apply well before the H-1B lottery deadline
McDonald's must register you in the H-1B lottery by March each year for an October 1 start date. Securing an offer in late 2025 or early 2026 gives HR enough lead time to complete the petition process before the window closes.
Understand that franchise locations do not sponsor visas
The vast majority of McDonald's restaurants are independently owned franchises with no obligation or infrastructure to sponsor H-1B visas. Sponsorship comes exclusively from McDonald's Corporation itself, so confirm the employer entity before applying.
Highlight cross-functional expertise in Food and Beverage operations
McDonald's values candidates who understand the operational complexity of global Food and Beverage supply chains. Connecting your technical skills to real-world QSR challenges strengthens your case when sponsorship conversations come up with hiring managers.
Use platforms that surface verified sponsorship history
Not every job listing clarifies whether sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving you from applying to franchise postings that have no ability to sponsor.
Prepare for a multi-step immigration review process
McDonald's corporate uses in-house HR and external immigration counsel to evaluate H-1B petitions. Expect a specialty occupation review tied to your specific role before the company commits, so document the degree requirements for your position clearly.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, McDonald's Corporation sponsors H-1B visas for qualified candidates in corporate roles. Sponsorship is limited to positions at its headquarters and regional corporate offices, covering functions like technology, data science, finance, and supply chain. Franchise-owned restaurant locations are not part of this program and cannot sponsor H-1B petitions.
Which roles and departments at McDonald's typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at McDonald's is concentrated in technology and corporate functions, including software engineering, data analytics, cybersecurity, financial analysis, and global supply chain management. These are considered specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, which is the foundational H-1B eligibility requirement.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at McDonald's?
Once McDonald's extends a conditional offer, its HR team and immigration counsel prepare the Labor Condition Application, file it with the Department of Labor, and then submit the H-1B petition to USCIS. Your role is to provide detailed documentation of your degree, transcripts, and employment history. Staying responsive during document collection speeds up the timeline significantly.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at McDonald's?
The full timeline depends on the lottery outcome and USCIS processing. If selected in the April lottery, employment typically begins October 1. Standard USCIS adjudication can take several months after filing, though premium processing is available for faster decisions. McDonald's HR will guide you through each phase once an offer is confirmed.
How do I find H-1B jobs at McDonald's that actually offer sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is searching specifically for McDonald's Corporation corporate postings and confirming sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process. Migrate Mate lists verified H-1B sponsors so you can identify legitimate corporate openings and avoid franchise listings that cannot sponsor. Raising the sponsorship question in your first recruiter conversation avoids wasted time on roles where it is off the table.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at McDonald's?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
