Job Roles at Morrison Foerster
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Morrison Foerster H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target Practice Groups That Match Your Specialty
Morrison Foerster's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in practice areas like intellectual property, technology transactions, and litigation. Applying to roles that align with your specific legal specialty significantly improves your chances of securing sponsorship.
Raise Sponsorship Early in the Recruiting Process
Large law firms have structured recruiting cycles. Confirm Morrison Foerster's willingness to sponsor your H-1B before investing in interviews. Their legal recruiting team is accustomed to these conversations and can answer sponsorship questions directly.
Emphasize Bar Admission and Licensing Status
Attorney roles at Morrison Foerster require bar admission. If you hold a foreign law degree, clarify your U.S. bar eligibility upfront. Sponsorship decisions often hinge on whether you can practice independently in the relevant jurisdiction.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Verified Sponsorship Openings
Morrison Foerster posts roles across multiple channels, but not all listings signal visa sponsorship clearly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your applications where H-1B support is confirmed.
Understand the Firm's H-1B Cap and Timing Constraints
Law firms operate on fiscal year hiring cycles. Morrison Foerster's H-1B filings are tied to USCIS's annual cap lottery in April. Timing your application through summer associate or lateral hiring programs maximizes your eligibility window.
Highlight Cross-Border or International Law Experience
Morrison Foerster's strength in cross-border transactions and Asia-Pacific markets means international legal experience is genuinely valued. Candidates with foreign jurisdiction knowledge often stand out in practice groups where the firm actively recruits for sponsorship-eligible roles.

Does Morrison Foerster sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Morrison Foerster sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is most common for attorneys joining the firm through associate hiring programs or lateral moves, and for certain specialized business services professionals. The firm has established immigration processes in place and works with outside immigration counsel to manage H-1B filings.
Which roles at Morrison Foerster are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
Associate attorneys are the most common recipients of H-1B sponsorship at Morrison Foerster, particularly in practice groups like intellectual property, technology transactions, finance, and litigation. Certain business services roles requiring specialized skills may also qualify, though attorney positions represent the firm's primary sponsorship pipeline.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Morrison Foerster?
Once you receive an offer, Morrison Foerster's legal recruiting or HR team will connect you with the firm's immigration counsel. They handle the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and the I-129 petition filed with USCIS. Your role is to provide documentation of your credentials, degree, and prior immigration history promptly to avoid delays.
How do I plan around H-1B timeline expectations at Morrison Foerster?
The standard H-1B cap process runs on an annual cycle: registrations open in March, the lottery occurs in April, and approved petitions take effect October 1. If you're hired before the lottery, Morrison Foerster will file your registration during that window. Premium processing is available for faster USCIS adjudication if your start date requires it.
How do I find and apply to H-1B-sponsored positions at Morrison Foerster?
Start by searching Morrison Foerster's careers page for open associate and lateral positions. For a broader view of which law firms are actively sponsoring H-1B visas, Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by confirmed sponsorship history, so you can prioritize firms like Morrison Foerster where sponsorship is documented rather than assumed.

H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
