Target Okta's core engineering teams
Okta's strongest H-1B sponsorship history is in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and identity security. Focus your applications on roles where your technical background aligns directly with Okta's core product areas to maximize sponsorship likelihood.
Confirm sponsorship willingness early in the process
During initial recruiter screens, ask directly whether the role is open to H-1B sponsorship. Okta's recruiting teams are familiar with the process, so raising it early avoids wasted time on both sides and signals you understand how sponsorship works.
Understand Okta's H-1B lottery timeline
H-1B cap filings happen once per year with an April 1 start date. If you connect with Okta outside that window, discuss a start date that aligns with the next cap cycle so hiring managers can plan your onboarding timeline accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Okta's sponsorship record
Before investing time in your application, use Migrate Mate to check Okta's verified H-1B sponsorship history by role type. Migrate Mate surfaces real sponsorship data so you can apply with confidence rather than guessing at a company's willingness to sponsor.
Highlight identity and security domain expertise
Okta operates in a specialized niche within Technology & Software. Applicants who demonstrate knowledge of identity management, zero-trust architecture, or OAuth and SAML protocols are applying into a talent-constrained space where H-1B sponsorship is more routinely extended.
Prepare documentation that supports your specialty occupation case
For H-1B approval, USCIS must confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. When interviewing at Okta, clarify the technical degree requirements for your target role, as this information directly supports the petition your employer will file on your behalf.
Okta H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Okta sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Okta sponsors H-1B visas. As a technology company operating in identity and access management, Okta regularly hires international talent for technical and specialized roles. Sponsorship is most common in software engineering, cloud security, and product development, though availability depends on the specific role and hiring cycle.
Which roles and departments at Okta are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Okta is most consistently associated with software engineering, site reliability engineering, security research, and technical product management. These roles require specialized degrees and domain knowledge, meeting the specialty occupation threshold USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions. Sales and non-technical roles are less commonly sponsored.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Okta?
Once Okta extends an offer, their internal immigration team or an outside immigration counsel handles the H-1B petition on your behalf. You provide personal documents and employment details; Okta files the Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then the I-129 petition with USCIS. You don't manage the filing yourself, but staying organized and responsive speeds the process significantly.
How do I find H-1B sponsored jobs at Okta?
Okta posts open roles on its careers site, but listings rarely specify visa sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate aggregates verified H-1B sponsor data so you can identify which Okta roles have a real sponsorship history before you apply, saving time compared to applying broadly and asking during the interview process.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Okta?
The timeline depends on where you are in your current status and when you connect with Okta relative to the H-1B cap filing window. Standard processing after USCIS accepts a petition runs several months. Premium processing reduces the adjudication window significantly. Cap-subject petitions can only start on October 1, so timing your offer relative to the annual registration window matters.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Okta?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
