Verify your credential evaluation meets clinical standards
OSF HealthCare operates under Illinois state licensing requirements, so your foreign nursing or medical degree must be evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before you apply. A pending evaluation at offer stage can delay your H-1B filing significantly, so complete this early.
Target roles tied to documented shortage occupations
OSF HealthCare's H-1B filings cluster around registered nursing, hospitalist physician, and advanced practice provider roles. Focus your applications on departments facing documented shortages, as these roles have established internal sponsorship workflows and move faster through USCIS adjudication.
Confirm H-1B sponsorship before accepting any offer
Ask the OSF HealthCare recruiter directly whether the specific role and department have sponsored H-1B visas before. Some OSF facilities sponsor more actively than others, and getting a written confirmation early prevents surprises after you've completed the interview process.
Search verified OSF HealthCare H-1B jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings to show only OSF HealthCare roles with confirmed H-1B sponsorship history, sourced from DOL Labor Condition Application filings. This removes the guesswork of identifying which postings are genuinely open to H-1B candidates at this employer.
Check the prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
OSF HealthCare's H-1B petition must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and Illinois metro area. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your job title before salary discussions begin, so your offer aligns with what USCIS will expect.
Understand the H-1B cap lottery timing relative to your start date
If you're on OPT or another nonimmigrant status and OSF HealthCare isn't cap-exempt for your role, your H-1B won't take effect until October 1 following a March lottery. Build this into your employment start date discussion so your authorization gap is covered through cap-gap provisions.
OSF HealthCare H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does OSF HealthCare sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, OSF HealthCare sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying clinical and allied health positions. Sponsorship is most common in registered nursing, hospitalist medicine, and advanced practice provider roles. Sponsorship availability can vary by facility and department within the OSF system, so confirm eligibility directly with the recruiter for your specific role.
Which roles and departments at OSF HealthCare typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at OSF HealthCare is concentrated in clinical roles requiring specialized degrees, including registered nurses, hospitalist and specialty physicians, pharmacists, and advanced practice providers such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Administrative and non-clinical roles are far less likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship under the specialty occupation standard.
How do I navigate the H-1B filing process after receiving an offer from OSF HealthCare?
Once OSF HealthCare extends an offer, their HR team or outside immigration counsel files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, then submits Form I-129 to USCIS. You'll need to provide employment and educational documentation. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your employer must register you in the USCIS lottery in March for an October start date.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at OSF HealthCare?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the process spans several months from lottery registration in March to a potential October 1 start date. Standard USCIS processing takes three to six months after filing; premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days. Cap-exempt scenarios, if applicable to your OSF role, allow filing and starting work sooner.
How do I find open H-1B positions at OSF HealthCare?
Migrate Mate surfaces OSF HealthCare job listings with verified H-1B sponsorship history drawn from DOL LCA filings, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already established. Cross-reference with OSF's own careers portal to confirm current openings, and filter by clinical department to match your specialty and licensure.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at OSF HealthCare?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
