Align your resume to Rain's technical stack
Rain hires for specialized software and fintech roles, so tailor your resume to reflect the specific technologies and systems relevant to their product. Generic tech resumes rarely clear the initial screen for H-1B-eligible positions at companies with focused engineering teams.
Confirm your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Not every tech title automatically satisfies USCIS specialty occupation standards. Cross-check your target role against O*NET to confirm it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field before you apply, or your petition faces avoidable risk.
Target roles posted before H-1B registration opens
Rain's H-1B registrations are submitted in March for a lottery held the same month. Getting an offer finalized in January or February gives both you and the employer time to prepare the registration without rushing the specialty occupation documentation.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Rain's sponsorship history
Before committing to Rain's interview process, pull their DOL Labor Condition Application filing history on Migrate Mate. You'll see which job titles and wage levels they've certified, so you can assess fit and benchmark compensation before negotiations start.
Request premium processing if your start date is tight
USCIS offers premium processing for H-1B petitions, which guarantees a response within 15 business days. If your OPT or current status expires close to October 1, ask Rain's HR team early whether they'll cover the upgrade to avoid a gap in authorization.
Benchmark your salary against DOL prevailing wage data
Rain must certify your wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run your expected title and metro area through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you can negotiate from the same wage level the LCA will require.
Rain H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Rain sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Rain sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in its technology and software operations. Sponsorship is tied to the annual USCIS cap lottery held each March, so candidates need a job offer finalized before registration opens to be included in that cycle.
Which roles at Rain typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Rain is concentrated in engineering, software development, and technical product roles that require a specialized degree. Positions involving fintech infrastructure, backend systems, or product engineering are the most common candidates, as they satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements most cleanly.
How do I start the H-1B application process at Rain?
The process begins when Rain extends a formal offer and their legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. From there, USCIS receives the H-1B petition after lottery selection. You can track Rain's filing patterns and certified wage levels using Migrate Mate before you even apply.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Rain?
Timeline depends on where you are in the process. The USCIS lottery runs in March, petitions are filed by April, and employment can begin October 1 if selected. Standard USCIS adjudication takes several months after filing, though Rain may elect premium processing to accelerate a decision for time-sensitive hires.
What can I do to strengthen my H-1B application at Rain?
Document the direct connection between your degree and your role at Rain before the petition is drafted. Software and fintech roles benefit from academic transcripts that clearly map to the technical requirements in the job description. Alert Rain's HR team early if your current status has a short runway, so they can plan around the October 1 start date.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Rain?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
