Job Roles at Sunrun
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Sunrun H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target technical and engineering roles
Sunrun's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in software engineering, data analytics, and electrical or systems engineering roles. Focus your application on positions that clearly require specialized technical knowledge rather than general operations or administrative functions.
Understand the clean energy hiring cycle
Sunrun's hiring ramps up around residential solar installation growth periods. Applying early in the calendar year positions you ahead of the H-1B cap filing window in April, giving Sunrun more time to complete your petition paperwork.
Emphasize domain-specific expertise
Sunrun looks for candidates with backgrounds in renewable energy, electrical systems, or residential construction technology. Framing your experience around the clean energy sector, not just your technical skills broadly, strengthens your case for H-1B sponsorship.
Confirm sponsorship willingness early in the process
Ask directly during your first recruiter call whether the role is open to H-1B sponsorship. Sunrun's sponsorship decisions are often made at the department level, so early confirmation saves time and helps you prioritize the right opportunities.
Use verified sponsorship data when job searching
Not every Sunrun job listing confirms visa sponsorship upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and identify which Sunrun roles have a genuine track record of H-1B support.
Prepare for a structured hiring and petition timeline
Sunrun coordinates H-1B petitions through its HR and legal teams, which takes time. Give yourself a buffer of several months between offer acceptance and your intended start date, particularly if the April H-1B cap registration window is involved.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Sunrun sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Sunrun sponsors H-1B visas for eligible roles, primarily in technical and engineering departments. Sponsorship is not offered for every open position, so candidates should confirm with the recruiter early in the hiring process whether a specific role includes H-1B support. Sunrun has an established process for managing sponsorship through its HR and legal teams.
Which roles and departments at Sunrun are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Sunrun is most common in software engineering, data science, electrical engineering, and systems or operations roles tied to its residential solar platform. Corporate functions like finance or HR are less likely to be sponsored. Roles that require a specific technical degree and specialized knowledge in clean energy or construction technology are the strongest candidates for sponsorship.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Sunrun?
Once Sunrun extends an offer to a sponsored candidate, its HR team coordinates with an immigration attorney to prepare the H-1B petition. You'll need to provide educational credentials, employment history, and supporting documents. Sunrun manages the filing on your behalf, but you're responsible for supplying accurate information promptly to keep the process on schedule.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Sunrun?
The timeline depends on whether your petition is subject to the annual H-1B cap. Cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October start date, meaning the full process can take six months or more from offer to start date. Cap-exempt situations, such as transfers from another H-1B employer, move faster. Build buffer time into your plans regardless of which path applies.
How do I find H-1B jobs at Sunrun that are open to sponsorship?
Many Sunrun job listings don't explicitly state whether H-1B sponsorship is available, which makes it worth using a platform built around verified sponsorship data. Migrate Mate lets you search Sunrun and other confirmed sponsors by visa type, so you can focus on roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than spending time on listings with no track record of H-1B support.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Sunrun?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
