Map your role to specialty occupation criteria
Turnitin's H-1B filings concentrate in technical roles requiring a specific degree field. Before applying, verify your position maps to a recognized specialty occupation by checking the O*NET profile for your job title and confirming your degree field aligns directly.
Research prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Turnitin must certify your offered salary meets DOL prevailing wage standards before USCIS approves your H-1B petition. Use the OFLC Wage Search to find the wage level for your job title and location so you can negotiate from an informed baseline.
Confirm Turnitin's E-Verify enrollment early
H-1B sponsorship requires your employer to be registered with E-Verify before filing. Ask Turnitin's HR or talent acquisition team to confirm their E-Verify status during early conversations, not after you've already accepted an offer and timelines are tight.
Time your application around the H-1B cap lottery
Turnitin roles subject to the H-1B cap require registration during the USCIS lottery window, typically in March for an October 1 start. If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, calculate your OPT expiration against this timeline to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Get petition documents employer-ready before your offer
Turnitin's legal or HR team will need your degree certificates, transcripts, and a detailed job duties letter to build the I-129 petition. Prepare a credential evaluation for any non-U.S. degree in advance so you don't slow down the filing timeline after your offer.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Turnitin openings
Search Migrate Mate to see Turnitin's active H-1B job listings filtered by DOL Labor Condition Application data. This lets you identify which specific roles and teams Turnitin is currently filing for, so you target positions with confirmed sponsorship intent.
Turnitin, Llc H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Turnitin, Llc sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Turnitin sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles, primarily in technical and specialized functions such as software engineering, data science, and product development. Sponsorship is tied to specific open positions rather than offered broadly, so confirming sponsorship intent with the hiring team during the interview process is essential.
Which departments at Turnitin typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Turnitin is concentrated in roles requiring specialized technical knowledge, including software engineering, machine learning, data analytics, and product management. Roles in educational technology design or research that require a specific degree field may also qualify. Sales, operations, and generalist positions are less commonly sponsored.
How do I start the H-1B application process at Turnitin?
The process begins after Turnitin extends a conditional job offer. Their legal or HR team then files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, followed by an I-129 petition with USCIS. You'll need to provide degree credentials, transcripts, and a credential evaluation for any non-U.S. degree. Premium processing is available if your start date is urgent.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Turnitin?
Standard USCIS processing for an H-1B petition takes several months. For cap-subject cases, the earliest you can start is October 1 following the March lottery. Premium processing reduces USCIS adjudication to a matter of weeks, which Turnitin may offer depending on business need. Build at least three to four months into your timeline for a standard case.
How do I find H-1B jobs currently available at Turnitin?
Migrate Mate surfaces Turnitin's active job listings using DOL Labor Condition Application data, so you can identify roles where sponsorship is already in motion. Cross-reference with Turnitin's careers page to apply directly. When you reach the offer stage, confirm in writing that the specific role includes H-1B sponsorship before accepting.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Turnitin, Llc?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
