Verify Your Credentials Before Applying
Most Clinician roles at Hanger require ABC or BOC board certification in orthotics or prosthetics. Confirm your credentials are active and U.S.-recognized before submitting applications, as missing certifications will stall any visa sponsorship conversation before it starts.
Target Hanger Clinics in Underserved Markets
Hanger operates clinics across rural and suburban markets where candidate pipelines are thinner. Roles in these locations are more likely to move to sponsorship conversations quickly, since local hiring pressure makes international candidates more competitive than in saturated metro areas.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Sponsoring Clinician Roles
Hanger posts Clinician openings across dozens of locations simultaneously, making it easy to miss roles that match your visa type. Use Migrate Mate to filter Hanger's open positions by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're only applying where sponsorship is on the table.
Understand How TN Status Applies to Clinicians
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, TN status covers physical therapist and medical technologist roles under USMCA. Confirm with Hanger's HR team whether your specific Clinician function qualifies under a listed TN category before assuming it applies.
Align Your OPT Timeline With Hanger's Hiring Cycle
Hanger recruits Clinicians on a rolling basis, but H-1B cap sponsorship requires filing in April for an October 1 start. If your OPT expires before October, ask the recruiter explicitly whether Hanger will bridge you with a cap-gap extension or STEM OPT if eligible.
Request an Explicit Sponsorship Commitment in Writing
Before signing an offer, confirm that Hanger's legal or HR team will file the I-129 petition with USCIS on your behalf. Verbal assurances are not binding. A written offer that references visa sponsorship protects you if internal priorities shift after you've accepted.

Find Clinician at Hanger JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Hanger sponsor H-1B visas for Clinicians?
Yes, Hanger has sponsored H-1B visas for Clinician roles. Because H-1B sponsorship requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and an I-129 petition with USCIS, you'll need to confirm with Hanger's HR team early in the process that the specific role and location are approved for sponsorship before the annual April filing window.
How do I apply for Clinician jobs at Hanger?
Applications go through Hanger's careers portal, where roles are listed by location and clinical specialty. You can also browse Hanger's open Clinician positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify which postings are realistically open to sponsored candidates before you invest time in the application.
Which visa types does Hanger commonly use for Clinician roles?
Hanger has used H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Clinician positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are typically used for recent graduates completing clinical training hours, while H-1B is the most common long-term work authorization path. TN may apply for Canadian or Mexican nationals depending on how the specific role maps to USMCA-listed occupations.
What qualifications does Hanger expect from Clinician candidates seeking sponsorship?
Hanger's Clinician roles typically require a master's degree in orthotics, prosthetics, or a related clinical field, along with ABC or BOC board certification or active candidacy. Patient evaluation and fitting experience is expected. For sponsorship purposes, your degree and credentials need to support a specialty occupation classification under H-1B standards, so field alignment matters.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization?
If you're on OPT, apply to Hanger at least four to six months before your OPT expires to leave room for H-1B filing, USCIS processing, and any requests for evidence. H-1B petitions filed in April have an October 1 start date. If your OPT runs out before then, ask Hanger whether your role qualifies for a 60-day cap-gap extension while the petition is pending.
