More About Hopper
At Hopper, we are on a mission to become the leading travel platform globally – powering Hopper’s mobile app, website and our B2B business, HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions). By leveraging massive amounts of data and advanced machine learning algorithms, Hopper combines its world-class travel agency offering with proprietary fintech products to bring transparency, flexibility and savings to travelers globally. We have developed several unique fintech solutions that address everything from pricing volatility to trip disruptions – helping people travel better and save more on their trips. The Hopper platform serves hundreds of millions of travelers globally and continues to capture market share around the world. The Hopper app has been downloaded over 120 million times and has become largely popular among younger travelers – with 70% of its users being Gen Z and millennials. While everyone knows us as the Gen Z and Millennial travel app, Hopper has evolved to become much more than that. In recent years, we’ve grown into a travel fintech provider, commerce platform, and global travel agency that powers some of the world’s largest brands. Through HTS, our B2B division, the company supercharges its partners’ direct channels by integrating our fintech products on their sites or powering end-to-end travel portals. Today, our partners include leading travel brands like Capital One, Nubank, Air Canada, and many more.
Here are just a few stats that demonstrate the company’s recent growth:
- Billions of dollars worth of travel and travel fintech are sold through Hopper and HTS channels every year.
- Our fintech products – including Cancel for Any Reason and Flight Disruption Assistance – have exceptionally strong CSAT because the terms are always clear, and customers receive instant, no-questions-asked resolutions.
- Almost 30% of our app customers purchase at least one fintech product when making a booking; and consumers are 1.6x more likely to repurchase if they add fintech to their booking vs if they booked just travel.
Given the success of its fintech products, Hopper launched a B2B initiative, HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions), which represents more than 75% of the business.
- Through HTS, any travel provider (airlines, hotels, banks, travel agencies, etc.) can integrate and seamlessly distribute Hopper’s fintech or travel inventory on their direct channels.
- As its first HTS partnership, the company partnered with Capital One to co-develop Capital One Travel, a new travel portal designed specifically for cardholders. Other HTS partners include Air Canada, Uber, CommBank, Nubank, Flair Airlines and many more.
Hopper has been named the #1 most innovative company in travel by Fast Company. We have raised over $750 million USD of private capital and are backed by some of the largest institutional investors and banks in the world. HTS is primed to continue its growth as the leading travel ecommerce provider in a $1 trillion online shopping category. The Hopper app and website will also continue to be the preferred travel provider for Gen Z and Millennials.
Compensation Range: $150K - $300K

Align your portfolio to travel tech systems
Hopper's engineering work centers on pricing algorithms, distributed systems, and high-throughput data pipelines. Frame your past projects around scale, real-time data, or predictive modeling so your experience maps directly to what their teams are building.
Target roles matching your specialty occupation evidence
For H-1B approval, your offered role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a directly related degree. Senior Software Engineering titles at Hopper tied to ML infrastructure or backend architecture carry stronger specialty occupation arguments than generalist engineering postings.
Confirm employer readiness before accepting an offer
Ask your Hopper recruiter early whether the team has experience filing Labor Condition Applications with DOL and whether they work with outside immigration counsel. A team that has done this before moves faster and makes fewer mistakes during the LCA and I-129 process.
Use Migrate Mate to track open senior roles
Hopper posts Senior Software Engineering openings across multiple locations and sub-teams at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Hopper roles with confirmed sponsorship so you're applying to active positions, not stale listings.
Build your EB-2 or EB-3 case from day one
If permanent residency matters to you, ask during negotiation whether Hopper initiates PERM labor certification for senior engineers. Starting that documentation early, including collecting performance records and job duty logs, reduces delays when your priority date becomes current.
Prepare your credentials for a specialty occupation review
If your degree is from outside the U.S. or is in a field adjacent to software engineering, get a credential evaluation before the offer stage. USCIS scrutinizes degree-to-role fit closely, and a three-year international degree needs proper equivalency documentation to hold up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hopper sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers?
Yes, Hopper sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles. The company has filed H-1B petitions for engineering talent across its product, infrastructure, and data teams. Your role will need to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which senior engineering positions tied to specific technical disciplines typically satisfy. Confirm sponsorship availability with your recruiter before proceeding through the interview process.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at Hopper?
Applications go through Hopper's careers page, where roles are listed by team and location. You can also find and filter verified Senior Software Engineering openings at Hopper that include visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate. Tailor your application to highlight systems-level work, measurable engineering impact, and any experience with high-scale consumer platforms. Hopper's interview process typically includes technical screens, system design rounds, and a hiring manager conversation.
Which visa types does Hopper commonly use for Senior Software Engineering hires?
Hopper primarily sponsors H-1B visas for senior engineering roles, which cover initial employment for up to three years and are renewable. For engineers pursuing permanent residency, Hopper also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, typically initiated through PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor. The right pathway depends on your qualifications, degree field, and where you are in your immigration timeline.
What qualifications does Hopper expect for Senior Software Engineering roles?
Hopper's senior engineering roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field, along with several years of professional experience building production systems. Candidates with backgrounds in distributed systems, backend architecture, machine learning infrastructure, or real-time data processing are well-positioned. Strong system design skills and experience working on consumer-facing platforms at scale are consistently valued across Hopper's engineering teams.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship if I am currently on OPT or CPT?
If you're on OPT, your employer needs to file your H-1B petition during the April filing window for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you have a STEM OPT extension, you may have a continuous authorization bridge. Cap-gap protection automatically extends your authorized stay if your OPT is still valid when the H-1B petition is filed. Confirm your I-94 end date and OPT expiration with USCIS documentation before accepting an offer.
