Frame Your HR Credentials Around Healthcare Compliance
Humana operates across a heavily regulated industry, so HR candidates who can speak to benefits administration, HIPAA-adjacent workforce policies, or multi-state compliance stand out. Tailor your resume to reflect these intersections before you apply.
Target Roles That Align With Your Visa Type
Humana posts HR roles ranging from talent acquisition to HR business partner functions. F-1 OPT holders should prioritize roles explicitly tied to their field of study, since STEM OPT extensions require a formal training plan that Humana's HR team would need to support.
Research Humana's Internal HR Structure Before Interviewing
Humana's HR function spans corporate, regional, and field teams across its conglomerate structure. Understanding which business unit you're joining, and how HR is organized within it, signals readiness and helps you ask the right questions about sponsorship timelines.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
When you reach the offer stage, ask specifically whether Humana will cover H-1B filing fees and whether they use premium processing. USCIS premium processing reduces the decision window to 15 business days, which matters if your OPT or current status is expiring soon.
Find Open Human Resources Roles at Humana on Migrate Mate
Filter by visa type and role function to surface Humana HR openings that match your sponsorship needs. Migrate Mate aggregates sponsoring employers so you're not manually combing through job boards to verify which roles are open to visa candidates.
Prepare for PERM-Stage Documentation Early in Your Tenure
If your goal is a Green Card through Humana, EB-2 or EB-3 PERM requires the employer to document a formal recruitment process. HR professionals understand this better than most, but you should still align with your hiring manager early on your long-term authorization plans.

Find Human Resources at Humana JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resources roles?
Yes, Humana has a consistent record of sponsoring H-1B visas across its HR functions, including talent acquisition, HR business partner, and benefits roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every position, so confirm directly with the recruiter during the screening stage. Roles tied to specialized HR knowledge, such as compensation strategy or workforce analytics, tend to have stronger sponsorship cases under USCIS specialty occupation criteria.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at Humana?
Applications go through Humana's careers portal, where you can filter by job category and location. Before applying, review whether the job description mentions visa sponsorship or contains language like 'must be authorized to work in the U.S.', which typically signals no sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces Humana HR openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility, which saves you from applying to roles that won't support your visa status.
Which visa types does Humana commonly sponsor for Human Resources positions?
Humana sponsors a range of visa categories for HR roles, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR occupations, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in HR or business programs, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term sponsorship. The visa type that applies to you depends on your nationality, degree field, and the specific HR role's requirements.
What qualifications does Humana look for in Human Resources candidates seeking sponsorship?
Humana typically expects a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, organizational psychology, or a related field. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, so degrees in directly related fields carry more weight than general business credentials. Experience with HRIS platforms, benefits administration, or talent acquisition within large, matrixed organizations strengthens your candidacy across Humana's business units.
How long does the sponsorship and visa filing process take at Humana?
For H-1B transfers or cap-exempt filings, standard USCIS processing runs several months, though premium processing can reduce that to 15 business days. If you're entering the H-1B cap lottery, filings open in March with an October 1 start date if selected. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 typically takes one to several years depending on your country of birth and DOL processing times. Clarify Humana's internal timelines with your recruiter before accepting an offer.
