Align your credentials with HIPAA security requirements
Humana operates under strict healthcare data compliance obligations, so certifications like CISSP, CISM, or HCISPP signal direct relevance. Framing your experience around regulated-industry environments strengthens your profile before you apply.
Target roles that sit inside Humana's enterprise security org
Humana's Cybersecurity hiring concentrates around cloud security, identity and access management, and security operations. Roles embedded in these teams are more likely to carry sponsorship approval than peripheral or contract-adjacent positions.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Humana's open Cybersecurity roles
Searching broadly across job boards buries sponsorship-friendly listings. Migrate Mate surfaces Humana's Cybersecurity openings filtered by visa type, so you're only spending time on roles that match your authorization status.
Ask recruiters about H-1B cap-exempt filing before your start date
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, confirm whether Humana plans to file your H-1B petition in the April cap season or pursue cap-exempt options. Knowing this early shapes whether you need a bridge period or OPT extension.
Clarify how Humana handles PERM for Cybersecurity sponsorship
For Green Card sponsorship via EB-2 or EB-3, DOL requires Humana to run a PERM labor certification. Ask your recruiter at the offer stage whether the role is eligible and what the company's internal timeline for initiating PERM looks like.
Expect E-Verify screening and prepare your documents early
Humana participates in E-Verify, so you'll need to present valid work authorization documents at onboarding. Having your I-94, visa stamp, and EAD ready before your start date prevents delays that can affect your first-day status confirmation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Cybersecurity roles?
Yes, Humana sponsors H-1B visas for Cybersecurity positions. The company has a consistent record of H-1B filings for technical roles, and Cybersecurity functions including cloud security, identity management, and security operations fall within the specialty occupation criteria USCIS uses to evaluate these petitions. Sponsorship eligibility is confirmed at the offer stage, so clarify it directly with your recruiter.
How do I apply for Cybersecurity jobs at Humana?
You can browse and apply through Humana's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to filter open Cybersecurity roles by visa type, which removes listings that don't support sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight experience in regulated-industry security environments, since Humana's compliance obligations under HIPAA make that background directly relevant to their hiring criteria.
Which visa types does Humana commonly sponsor for Cybersecurity positions?
Humana sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for Cybersecurity roles, and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in their academic authorization period. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical roles. For longer-term sponsorship, Humana has filed EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for Cybersecurity professionals through the PERM process with the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does Humana expect for sponsored Cybersecurity roles?
Humana typically expects a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, along with relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+. Experience in cloud security frameworks, identity and access management, or SIEM platforms is frequently cited in their job descriptions. Because Humana operates in a highly regulated healthcare environment, familiarity with HIPAA security rule compliance is a practical differentiator.
How do I handle the visa filing timeline when starting a Cybersecurity role at Humana?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date against Humana's expected H-1B cap filing window, which opens each April for an October 1 start. USCIS requires the petition to be filed before your OPT expires. If you have a STEM OPT extension, you may have up to 24 additional months of buffer. Discuss the timeline with Humana's immigration team or legal counsel at the offer stage, not after you accept.
