Become a part of our caring community
Humana is undertaking a strategic transformation towards becoming a consumer-driven health care company. As part of this, the member onboarding experience has been identified as a critical moment in the customer engagement lifecycle. We are seeking a Consumer Onboarding Strategy Execution Lead to help progress this important work. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and transform new member experiences during one of the most pivotal moments in their journey – when they first join Humana. Reporting to the Strategy Advancement Principal - Onboarding Execution, you’ll partner with teammates in Enterprise Growth and cross-functionally (e.g., Marketing, Digital, Call Centers, Stars, among others) to facilitate the delivery of a reimagined, omni-channel onboarding experience for our members. Thinking and acting big and small, you will activate partners across the enterprise to ensure that the program strategy is brought to life through small-scale pilots, in-market testing, or via full-scale launch. This will also involve ensuring that workstreams stay aligned, on track, and in service of a thoughtful and helpful onboarding experience that delights customers and supports business objectives.
Additionally, this candidate will be closely involved in executive stakeholder communication, including preparing for highly visible executive forums to showcase progress and impact across different strategic opportunities, escalating roadblocks, gathering commitments, and reconciling input.
This is not a feature roadmap role; it's a program leadership role with a dual focus: (1) ensuring that our onboarding approach continuously advocates for member needs while (2) driving value for our business. You will act as a champion for our members to ensure their needs are being met at every step of their journey while defining a delivery approach that produces incremental value.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Lead execution of Humana's Enterprise Onboarding Transformation Program, serving as the execution-focused product manager for the member onboarding experience and ensuring strategic priorities are translated into integrated, actionable delivery plans across workstreams
- Own the end-to-end omni-channel onboarding roadmap and execution, partnering with the Strategy Advancement Principal and cross-functional teams to prioritize opportunities, accelerate pilots, manage interdependencies, and deliver key milestones across member segments
- Drive cross-functional program governance and operational excellence by coordinating stakeholders, facilitating decision-making, managing risks, issues, dependencies, and escalations, and ensuring accountability for deliverables and outcomes
- Influence and align business partners and workstream leaders without direct authority to maintain momentum, resolve barriers, and advance strategic initiatives that improve member onboarding and enterprise objectives
- Support executive engagement and program visibility through clear communications, status reporting, leadership readouts, and concise updates on strategic intent, progress to established goals, risks, key decisions, and program performance
- Partner with Integrated Measurement to optimize onboarding performance by tracking KPIs, analyzing trends, identifying improvement opportunities, testing new approaches, and recommending actions that enhance member experience and program outcomes
- Drive organizational readiness and adoption by supporting change management efforts, maintaining onboarding processes and documentation, and enabling effective implementation of new tools, capabilities, and ways of working
- Bring structure, clarity, and urgency to complex challenges, balancing enterprise priorities with member-centric outcomes to ensure successful execution and measurable business impact
Use your skills to make an impact
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 6+ years of progressive experience creating program or product strategy, supporting implementation, prioritization, planning, and execution of high-impact, enterprise-wide initiatives

- Proven success delivering large, multi-workstream programs in healthcare or similarly complex environments – with experience working across various business functions, processes, and technology domains
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience with storyboarding and developing presentations to both operation and executive audiences
- Ability to distill strategic goals into actionable, measurable execution plans
- Expertise in program acceleration, risk mitigation, and managing cross-functional interdependencies

Frame Your Strategy Experience Around Healthcare Outcomes
Humana prioritizes Strategy Leads who can connect corporate planning to healthcare delivery and member outcomes. Reframe consulting or corporate strategy experience around population health, value-based care models, or health plan operations before you apply.
Target Roles Requiring PERM-Eligible Qualifications Early
If you're pursuing a Green Card through Humana, PERM requires the employer to show no qualified U.S. workers are available. Positions requiring specialized healthcare strategy credentials or an MBA with actuarial or clinical focus tend to clear that bar more reliably.
Align Your Application to Humana's Corporate Strategy Cycles
Humana's strategy function hires heavily around annual planning cycles, typically in Q3 and Q4. Submitting applications during this window puts you in front of hiring managers when headcount is actively being approved, which matters for timely LCA filing with DOL.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Strategy Lead Roles
Not every Strategy Lead posting at Humana is tied to active sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type so you're applying specifically to positions where H-1B, TN, or OPT sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Clarify Your OPT or Grace Period Timeline Before Offer Stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, Humana's HR team will need to confirm your STEM extension eligibility or cap-gap coverage before extending an offer. Have your I-20, EAD, and degree field documentation ready so there's no delay when the conversation turns to start dates.
Negotiate the Petition Timeline Into Your Offer Discussion
For H-1B transfers, USCIS portability lets you start work once the petition is filed, not after approval. Confirm with Humana's immigration counsel whether they use premium processing by default, since Strategy Lead roles often require a rapid transition between employers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Strategy Leads?
Yes, Humana sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy Lead roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file Labor Condition Applications with the DOL and submit petitions to USCIS. If you're transferring from another employer, Humana can file an H-1B transfer that allows you to begin work upon receipt, without waiting for full approval.
Which visa types does Humana commonly use for Strategy Lead roles?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Strategy Lead roles at Humana, but the company also sponsors F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying strategy or management roles, and J-1 visa holders transitioning to full-time employment. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is available for longer-tenured hires.
What qualifications does Humana expect for Strategy Lead roles?
Most Strategy Lead positions at Humana expect a bachelor's degree in business, economics, public health, or a related field, with an MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred. Candidates with backgrounds in management consulting, health plan operations, or corporate development are competitive. Experience translating data analysis into executive-level strategic recommendations is consistently prioritized across postings.
How do I apply for Strategy Lead jobs at Humana?
You can browse and apply for Strategy Lead positions at Humana directly through their careers site. To find roles that explicitly include visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which filters Humana's open Strategy Lead positions by visa type so you can target only the roles where sponsorship is confirmed. Apply early in Humana's Q3 to Q4 hiring cycle when strategy headcount is actively approved.
How do I manage the timing between my current visa status and a Humana offer?
If you're on a 60-day grace period after leaving a previous employer, USCIS requires an H-1B transfer petition to be filed before that window closes. Humana's immigration team can file quickly for urgent cases, but notify your recruiter about your status timeline at the offer stage, not after signing, so the LCA and petition process can start without delay.
