Frame your credentials around healthcare strategy
Humana's business development roles sit inside a regulated health insurance environment. Translate your experience into outcomes that map to their market, member growth, payer-provider partnerships, or Medicare Advantage expansion, before you apply.
Verify your degree supports a specialty occupation filing
H-1B eligibility for business development roles requires a direct connection between your degree field and the position. A general business degree may raise questions; an MBA with a healthcare concentration or a finance degree strengthens the specialty occupation argument considerably.
Target roles with explicit cross-functional scope
Humana's business development postings that reference corporate strategy, M&A support, or enterprise partnerships tend to carry stronger sponsorship justifications than sales-adjacent titles. Filter for those when searching so your profile aligns with roles that travel through legal review more smoothly.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active sponsorship openings
Not every Humana posting signals sponsorship willingness upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Strategic Business Development openings at Humana that are verified for visa sponsorship, so you apply only where your status is actually workable.
Initiate the LCA conversation before accepting an offer
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before an H-1B petition can proceed. Confirm during the offer stage that Humana's HR team has an active immigration counsel relationship, so there's no delay between offer acceptance and filing preparation.
Plan your OPT-to-H-1B transition timeline carefully
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS H-1B cap filings open in March for an October 1 start. Align your Humana hiring process to conclude well before March so your employer can include you in cap-subject registration without rushing the supporting documentation.

Find Strategic Business Development at Humana JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Strategic Business Developments?
Yes, Humana sponsors H-1B visas for Strategic Business Development roles. These positions typically qualify as specialty occupations given their analytical and strategic complexity. Your degree field needs to align directly with the role's core functions. Humana works with outside immigration counsel to manage filings, so confirming that infrastructure exists early in the hiring process is practical.
How do I apply for Strategic Business Development jobs at Humana?
Applications go through Humana's careers portal at careers.humana.com. If you need sponsorship, look for postings that explicitly indicate visa sponsorship eligibility or use Migrate Mate to filter for Humana roles verified for sponsorship. Tailor your resume to emphasize strategic outcomes in health insurance, Medicare, or managed care contexts, since Humana evaluates business development candidates against its specific market priorities.
Which visa types does Humana commonly use for Strategic Business Development roles?
Humana sponsors across several visa categories for this function, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT for early-career candidates, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured employees. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Humana expect for Strategic Business Development roles?
Humana typically looks for candidates with backgrounds in corporate strategy, finance, or business analytics, often with exposure to the healthcare or insurance sector. An MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field strengthens both your candidacy and the H-1B specialty occupation argument. Experience with partnership development, M&A support, or market entry strategy within regulated industries is particularly relevant.
How does the visa sponsorship timeline work for these roles at Humana?
Timeline depends on which visa category applies. H-1B cap filings require a March registration window for an October start, so your hiring process needs to wrap up well before then. OPT candidates can start sooner if authorization is already in place. PERM-based Green Card processes through the DOL can run 12 to 24 months or longer, and typically begin after you've established tenure in the role.
