Align Your Credentials to Healthcare Coordination Standards
Humana's Patient Service Coordinator roles typically require demonstrated experience in care coordination, insurance authorization, or clinical support. Certifications like CCMA or CEHRS strengthen your profile and signal readiness for the administrative demands of a managed care environment.
Target Humana's Health Services Division Specifically
Patient Service Coordinator openings are concentrated in Humana's care delivery and health services arms, not its corporate or technology units. Filtering your search by business segment helps you reach hiring managers whose teams actively support international candidates through HR channels.
Browse Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
Humana posts Patient Service Coordinator positions across multiple locations with varying sponsorship signals. Use Migrate Mate to filter Humana's open roles by visa type so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship has been confirmed for this function.
Clarify OPT and CPT Authorization Early in Screening
Humana participates in E-Verify, so F-1 students on OPT or CPT must have valid work authorization documentation ready before onboarding begins. Raise your status and authorization end date during the recruiter screen, not after an offer is extended, to avoid timeline conflicts.
Understand How Humana Files H-1B Petitions Internally
Large healthcare conglomerates like Humana typically manage H-1B filings through in-house immigration counsel rather than outsourced law firms. Ask your HR contact early whether they file cap-subject or cap-exempt petitions for this role, since Patient Service Coordinator positions can fall under either category depending on Humana's affiliated entities.
Build Your PERM Timeline into Long-Term Planning
If your goal is permanent residence through EB-2 or EB-3, PERM labor certification at Humana requires the company to run a supervised recruitment process through DOL before sponsoring your Green Card. That process typically takes 12 to 18 months, so initiate the conversation with HR well before your nonimmigrant status approaches its limits.

Find Patient Service Coordinator at Humana JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Patient Service Coordinators?
Yes, Humana sponsors H-1B visas for Patient Service Coordinators. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as healthcare administration or a related discipline. Humana manages H-1B filings through its internal immigration team, so sponsorship decisions are made at the business unit level depending on the specific position and location.
How do I apply for Patient Service Coordinator jobs at Humana?
You can browse and apply for Patient Service Coordinator positions directly through Humana's careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to filter Humana's open roles specifically by visa sponsorship type. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight care coordination experience, insurance authorization knowledge, and any relevant certifications. Recruiters screen for both clinical familiarity and administrative competency in this function.
Which visa types does Humana commonly use for Patient Service Coordinator roles?
Humana sponsors Patient Service Coordinator candidates across several visa categories including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and J-1 for exchange visitors in qualifying programs. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Humana supports EB-2 and EB-3 pathways through PERM labor certification, typically after an employee has established tenure in the role.
What qualifications does Humana expect for a sponsored Patient Service Coordinator?
Humana generally looks for a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in care coordination, patient scheduling, or managed care operations. Familiarity with insurance authorization processes and electronic health record systems is expected. Candidates with certifications in medical administration or care coordination are consistently prioritized for sponsored positions over those without formal credentials.
How long does the sponsorship and onboarding process take at Humana?
For H-1B transfers from another employer, Humana can file a cap-exempt petition and you may start once USCIS receives the petition. For new H-1B cap-subject cases, you'd need to clear the annual lottery in April with an October 1 start date, a roughly six-month gap. TN and OPT transfers are faster, often resolved in two to four weeks once documentation is verified through E-Verify.
