Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Controls Engineer Jobs at Integrated Power Services Jobs
Tailor your resume to IPS service environments
Integrated Power Services focuses on repair, remanufacturing, and field service for motors and drives. Highlight hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and variable frequency drives in industrial or maintenance contexts rather than purely design-focused roles.
Obtain relevant controls certifications before applying
Certifications like Rockwell Automation credentials or NFPA 70E electrical safety training signal job-readiness for IPS service center work. Having these documented before you apply strengthens your case during the specialty occupation assessment tied to H-1B petitions.
Confirm your OPT or CPT aligns with the role
For F-1 students, your authorized field of study must directly support a Controls Engineer classification. USCIS scrutinizes alignment between your degree field and job duties, so verify that your DSO's work authorization documentation reflects your engineering specialization explicitly.
Engage hiring managers at the service center level
IPS operates distributed service centers across the U.S., each with local hiring authority for controls roles. Reaching out directly to regional or facility-level managers often moves your application faster than routing solely through corporate HR channels.
Clarify sponsorship timing before accepting an offer
Ask specifically whether IPS will file your H-1B petition in the next cap season or transfer an existing petition. The H-1B cap lottery runs once annually, so a delayed conversation can mean a 12-month gap between offer and authorized start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find open controls roles at IPS
Search Migrate Mate to filter Controls Engineer openings at Integrated Power Services by visa type. This lets you confirm which positions are actively seeking sponsored candidates before you invest time in a full application and interview process.

Find Controls Engineer at Integrated Power Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Integrated Power Services sponsor H-1B visas for Controls Engineers?
Yes, Integrated Power Services has sponsored H-1B visas for Controls Engineers. Because IPS operates service centers that require specialized expertise in industrial automation and electrical systems, Controls Engineer roles generally meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions. Confirm sponsorship availability for a specific opening directly with the hiring team, as not every position will have an active petition budget.
Which visa types are commonly used for Controls Engineer roles at Integrated Power Services?
H-1B is the most common long-term work visa for Controls Engineers at IPS. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, which matters if you're completing an engineering degree and want to gain experience before transitioning to H-1B status. Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying engineering credentials may also explore the TN visa, which does not require a lottery and can be processed at the border.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Controls Engineer roles at Integrated Power Services?
IPS typically looks for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with PLCs, drives, and industrial control systems is central to the role. Field service exposure in a manufacturing or repair environment is a strong differentiator. USCIS requires that the degree field align directly with the job duties when evaluating a specialty occupation claim for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Controls Engineer jobs at Integrated Power Services?
Browse open Controls Engineer positions at Integrated Power Services through Migrate Mate, where you can filter specifically for roles that support visa sponsorship. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply through IPS's careers portal and address your authorization needs early in the process. Engaging the hiring team directly about sponsorship before the offer stage prevents delays later.
How do I manage the timeline between an offer and my authorized start date at IPS?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employment can begin as soon as your EAD card is valid and the role matches your authorized field. For H-1B, the annual cap lottery closes in March with an October 1 start date, so timing your offer around that window matters. TN status can be obtained at the port of entry, making it faster for eligible candidates who need to start quickly.
