Target clinical and research roles first
Joslin's sponsorship activity is concentrated in clinical care and diabetes research. Roles in endocrinology, research coordination, and biomedical sciences are the most likely to attract visa support, so prioritize these departments in your search.
Understand which visa types Joslin supports
Joslin Diabetes Center sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. Knowing this before you apply lets you frame your work authorization clearly and avoid wasting time on roles where your visa category isn't supported.
Leverage your OPT or CPT as an entry point
F-1 students can use OPT or CPT to gain hands-on experience at Joslin before pursuing H-1B sponsorship. This is a well-established path at healthcare and research institutions that prefer to sponsor candidates they already know.
Align your credentials with Joslin's specialty
Joslin focuses exclusively on diabetes care and research. Applicants with backgrounds in endocrinology, metabolic disease, clinical trials, or related biomedical fields will be far more competitive than generalists when visa sponsorship is part of the equation.
Apply early in the calendar year for H-1B consideration
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for the October start date. Healthcare employers like Joslin plan hiring months in advance, so connecting with their recruitment team in the fall or winter significantly improves your chances of being considered.
Find verified sponsorship opportunities through Migrate Mate
Rather than guessing which roles at Joslin include visa support, search on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your applications where international candidates are genuinely welcome.

The platform aggregates jobs from verified sponsors and lets you filter by company, visa type, and industry, so you can focus on positions where international candidates have a realistic path to work authorization rather than applying blindly.
How do I time my application to Joslin Diabetes Center for H-1B sponsorship?
The H-1B cap season runs from February through April, with petitions filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. To be included, you need an offer letter and a completed employer petition before that deadline.
