Get Your Florida RN License First
Lakeland Regional Health requires active Florida RN licensure before extending an offer for School Nurse roles. Start the state board endorsement or NCLEX process early so your license is in hand when you apply, not after.
Highlight School and Community Health Experience
School Nurse roles at a regional health system differ from inpatient nursing. Emphasize pediatric assessments, immunization compliance, IEP health plan coordination, or community clinic work in your resume to match what their hiring managers are screening for.
Confirm Sponsorship Intent Before Final Interview Rounds
Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific School Nurse opening is approved for H-1B sponsorship. Some positions within a health system are budgeted for it and others are not, so verify early rather than waiting until an offer is on the table.
Understand H-1B Cap Timing for Healthcare Roles
Lakeland Regional Health is a non-profit hospital, which may qualify it for cap-exempt H-1B filings through USCIS. Clarify this with HR because cap-exempt sponsorship removes the April lottery deadline and allows year-round petition filing.
Use Migrate Mate to Target Open Roles Efficiently
Searching across dozens of health system job boards is slow. Use Migrate Mate to filter School Nurse openings at Lakeland Regional Health by visa sponsorship, so you spend time applying to roles the employer has already committed to sponsor.
Prepare Your DOL LCA Documentation in Advance
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Gather your credential evaluation, proof of Florida licensure, and employment verification letters ahead of time so the LCA filing isn't delayed on your end.

Which visa types are commonly used for School Nurse roles at Lakeland Regional Health?
The H-1B is the primary visa category used for School Nurse positions at Lakeland Regional Health, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in nursing. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nurses who meet specific credential requirements under USMCA.
What qualifications and experience are expected for School Nurse roles at Lakeland Regional Health?
Lakeland Regional Health typically requires an active Florida RN license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and relevant clinical experience. For School Nurse positions specifically, experience in pediatric care, community health, immunization programs, or school health settings strengthens your application considerably. How do I plan my timeline around H-1B sponsorship for a School Nurse position?
If Lakeland Regional Health qualifies as a cap-exempt employer through USCIS, H-1B petitions can be filed year-round, which removes the standard April 1 registration deadline and the lottery. Verify this status with their HR team. If cap-exempt status applies, from offer acceptance to approved petition typically takes two to four months, though premium processing with USCIS can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days.
